Why do we celebrate Juneteenth? Juneteenth marks the day all enslaved people were made aware of their liberation. As much as it celebrates freedom, it's also an avenue for people to celebrate African-American culture and traditions and an opportunity to reflect on how we can move forward. Happy Juneteenth to Everyone!

Martin Luther King Jr. was a man of incredible courage and conviction, whose life and legacy continue to inspire us to this day. He taught us that no matter how daunting life's struggles may seem, we can overcome them through faith, hope, discipline, and determination.

Whether we are dealing with habits and addictions or any other challenge that life throws our way, we can find hope and strength in his example. Dr. King's unwavering commitment to justice and equality, even in the face of violence and hatred, reminds us that we too can stand up for what is right and just.

His message of love and acceptance touched the hearts of millions of people around the world, and his legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the movements he inspired. He showed us that even in the darkest of times, we can find light and hope by working together towards a common goal.

So let us honor Dr. King's life and legacy by continuing to fight for justice and equality, and never giving up on our dreams. Let us remember his message of hope and love, and strive to build a better world for all. For as Dr. King once said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

UMADAOP, which stands for Urban Minority Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Outreach Program, is proud to present an exciting training class in collaboration with SheRay's & Associates LLC. This training program, called Prevention Skills Training (PST), is specifically designed for individuals who identify as Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian, Native American/Indigenous, or People of Color.

The 5-day training aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to become an Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist. Led by esteemed trainers Marketa Robinson, Ph.D., and Albert Gay, both Master Trainers at SheRay's & Associates LLC, this program offers common sense solutions and focuses on providing practical tools for prevention.

The curriculum includes original material from the Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training (SAPST), enhanced with new content that addresses the unique challenges and experiences of BIPOC populations. The training delves into topics such as health disparities, health equity, and cultural aspects, ensuring participants are well-equipped to address these issues within their communities.

The program is grounded in current research and SAMHSA's Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), emphasizing evidence-based approaches to prevention. By attending this training, participants will gain a solid foundation in implementing effective, data-driven prevention interventions that aim to reduce behavioral health disparities and improve overall wellness.

UMADAOP and SheRay's & Associates LLC are excited to offer this training opportunity, which promises to provide valuable insights and practical skills for prevention professionals. Don't miss out on the chance to enhance your knowledge and make a positive impact in your community.
