This year's Trunk or Treat was incredible. THANK YOU to all our volunteers and staff for making this such a fantastic event for the families in the shelter. We had a parking lot filled with decorated cars, volunteers in costume passing out candy, and activities for our guests. Our kitchen staff provided popcorn and hot chocolate for guests and volunteers to enjoy. It was a great time for all who attended.

A big thank you to for providing a fabulous meal for the women and families in the shelter!

On the Feast day of St. Mother Teresa, let us be reminded to let go of our differences and embrace our common brokenness. May St. Mother Teresa’s example of charity and love for the most vulnerable inspire us to work together to care for those most in need. As she said, “I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things.”
St. Mother Teresa, pray for us!

Thank you, Five Rivers MetroParks, for the reminder to shop second-hand! Did you know that CityThrift St. Vincent de Paul, Dayton, Ohio, puts over 4,000 pieces of clothing and over 400 linens each week out on the sales floor? Thank you to our donors for keeping these items out of the landfills. Help us give new life to all of these textiles! Shop today at 945 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd. Open Mon-Fri 9-6 and Saturday 10-4.

Fall feels like it's almost here, but don't rush to shop with big box brands. Rather, shop second-hand instead. Why? It's much better for the environment. 🌎 Statistically speaking, you will only get 10 wears out of your fast fashion buys before they fall apart and head to the landfill, according to UCLA Sustainability. 🫠 With an estimated 92 million tons of textile waste ending up in landfills annually, plus the 170 billion cubic meters of water used to make garments per year (that's enough water to fill 68 MILLION swimming pools!) shopping second-hand is better for the environment and your pocket. 💚

Our Story

The Dayton District Council of St. Vincent de Paul, growing in spirituality and friendship, provides Christ-inspired person-to-person assistance in an empowering effort to improve the lives of those in personal, spiritual, or material need. We are dedicated to meet people where they are through Home Visits, while working to systemically reduce the risk factors in our community that lead to poverty and homelessness. We aid those in need by providing emergency shelter, supportive housing, food, clothing, household items, and guidance that helps our neighbors towards self-sustaining lives.

Every year, your support helps St. Vincent de Paul Dayton serve more than 100,000 people through our shelters, food pantries, community stores, furniture bank, supportive housing programs and neighborhood St. Vincent de Paul Conferences.
