Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer—it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance. We recognize the heroes who left behind their families, friends, and dreams so that we may enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted.

As we gather with loved ones today, let us take a moment to remember those who never returned home and the families who continue to carry their legacy. Their courage, selflessness, and devotion to duty will never be forgotten.

From all of us at the Dayton Police Department, we extend our deepest gratitude to our fallen service members and their families. We honor your sacrifice, cherish your memory, and remain forever grateful for the freedoms you secured.

Wearing your seatbelt is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself and your loved ones in the event of a crash. Whether you’re driving across town or just around the corner, buckle up every seat, every time.

Our officers will be actively enforcing seatbelt laws to help reduce preventable injuries and save lives throughout our community.
