¿Ha escuchado el término “impuesto de opción local” pero no está muy seguro de lo que significa para usted?

Un impuesto de opción local es un impuesto sobre la propiedad aprobado por los votantes locales para financiar servicios específicos durante un período determinado. A diferencia de los impuestos permanentes sobre la propiedad, los impuestos de opción local vencen a menos que los votantes los aprueben nuevamente.

What is a Local Option Levy? - 2026 Public Safety Levy Information Series

Have you heard the term "local option levy" but aren't quite sure what it means to you?

A local option levy is a property tax approved by local voters to fund specific services for a set period of time. Unlike permanent property taxes, local option levies expire unless voters approve them again.

The City of Dayton's current Public Safety Local Option Levy is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2027.

In the November 2026 General Election, Dayton voters will see a measure asking whether to renew a Public Safety Local Option Levy for an additional five years.

Over the coming weeks, we'll share impartial information about the measure, including what it can fund, how local option levies work, and what you'll see on your ballot.

As the November 3 General Election approaches, the City of Dayton would like to remind the community of the regulations regarding political signs. For this election, political signs may be displayed beginning September 4, 2026. Signs must comply with applicable City regulations, including requirements related to placement and size.
