Dawson Mountain Education

Dawson Mountain Education MECHS is a SACS accredited, tuition-free, non-traditional, evening high school with a self-paced curriculum and a flexible attendance policy.

Our mission is to provide a new path for students across North Georgia to earn an accredited High School Diploma in a student-centered, self-paced, evening public high school. Students choose the courses they work on each night and work through the self-paced online curriculum with the guidance of a certified teacher in the classroom. Students are supported by teachers, mentors, counselors, and graduation coaches who work diligently to keep the students on track towards graduation. The staff at MECHS genuinely want to see every single student succeed and will go above and beyond to make sure students walk away from MECHS with a Georgia High School Diploma. Having a high school diploma increases our graduates’ chances of getting a job, provides them the opportunity to attend college or technical school, raises their salaries and their self esteem, and it can be their ticket towards a better, brighter future. We are so proud of Preston Curry (pictured right), Dawson Campus Graduate, Class of 2025, who recently completed Basic Training in the United States Army!

Preston recently returned to the Dawson Campus, along with a fellow soldier, to share his experience at Mountain Education with our current students. He encouraged them to stay focused, keep working hard, and never give up on their goals!

Preston and his wife, Angel Curry, Dawson Campus Graduate, Class of 2025, are now stationed in Colorado. We are incredibly proud of both of you and wish you continued success in this next chapter!

Preston Curry, Dawson Campus Graduate Class of 2025, just completed Basic Training (Army)! He came back to campus to speak to the current students about his experience at the Dawson Campus. He encouraged the students to keep focused (even though at times he admitted was difficult for him), and to keep working! Preston shared that his motivation, in part, was seeing his name on the board for highest weekly module completions!
