Update: Owner is found, thanks everyone!

If you are located off 52 near Walker Dr and Antioch Church Rd and are missing two horses, please call 706-344-3232.

As a reminder, you can join our voluntary livestock registry by calling 706-344-3232 or emailing [email protected] and we will call you if we get reports of your animals being loose. Most owners on this list beat our officers out to the loose animals and have them contained before we even arrive. This saves precious minutes and prevents potentially fatal accidents.

Thank you to The Summit Ranch Equestrian Park for helping our officers safely load these horses and for containing them until we find the owners.

Thank you to Dawson County Sheriff's Office - Dawsonville, GA for your assistance as well!

We've clearly enjoyed spending the day with these horses, but we need them to go home now ☺️

If you live off 52 near Antioch Church Rd and Walker Dr and are missing 2 horses, please call us. They're safely contained, but we're going to need you to bring them home, because our officers have already brought home too many strays 😅 706-344-3232

Attention, Dawson County…

If you hear a loud boom tonight, take a deep breath before grabbing your phone.

Odds are it’s not an invasion. It’s not a meteor. It’s not your neighbor testing homemade explosives.

It’s probably fireworks.

Georgia law allows fireworks until 11:59 PM on July 3 and July 4, so if they’re being used legally, there’s nothing for us to enforce.

Please don’t call 911 or our non-emergency line just because you hear fireworks. Every dispatcher answering those calls could be needed for someone having a real emergency.

And before anyone asks… no, we don’t know who lit the one that shook your windows. We heard it too.

Enjoy the holiday, celebrate safely, keep it legal, and help us keep our phone lines open for the calls that really matter.
