On 08/14/26 this individual entered into the Dawson Pawn around 3:30 pm. The individual was able to access a counter display and take a quantity of jewelry from the case. The City of Dawson is notifying residents and businesses of a temporary interruption of water service due to a ruptured water main located at the Meadow Run Apartment complex.

Water service will be temporarily shut off while City crews make the necessary emergency repairs.

The following areas are expected to be affected:

• Meadow Run Apartments
• Oak Creek Apartments
• Autumn Crest Apartments
• Businesses located in and around the affected area

Residents and businesses in nearby areas may also experience low water pressure or a temporary loss of water service while repairs are underway.

City crews are working to repair the damaged water main and restore water service as quickly and safely as possible. Water service will remain interrupted until the necessary repairs have been completed.

The City of Dawson apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the patience and cooperation of our residents and business owners while this emergency repair is completed.

I want to personally thank everyone who helped make our first Dawson Police Department National Night Out and School Supply Giveaway a tremendous success.

Although we had to adjust the event time because of the weather, our community still came out in great numbers and made the day truly special.

Thank you to all our vendors, volunteers, officers, office staff, their families, fellow first responders, and local business partners whose generous donations and support made this event possible.

I would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Shereca Harvey and her staff, along with Starz Academy. Your commitment to the children of our community is sincerely appreciated.

This event showed what can be accomplished when our community comes together with one purpose. Thank you again for your support, your time, and your generosity.

We are already looking forward to next year and making this event even bigger and better for the citizens and children of Dawson and Terrell County.

Please note that students who were unable to pick up school supplies during the event may receive them at their respective schools after the first day of school.

IMPORTANT NATIONAL NIGHT OUT SCHEDULE UPDATE

Due to the increased possibility of heavy rain during the originally scheduled event hours, the Dawson Police Department National Night Out will now begin at 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 pm, on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Vendor registration and check in will begin at 8:00 a.m.

This schedule change is being made to provide the best opportunity for the event to proceed safely while respecting the time, preparation, and resources already committed by our vendors, community partners, agencies, and participants.

We apologize for the abrupt change and any inconvenience it may cause. We appreciate everyone’s understanding, flexibility, and continued support.
