Davis Community Meals and Housing

DCMH provides low-income and homeless individuals and families with housing, food, and human services to help them rebuild their lives.

Davis Community Meals began as an effort by local faith communities and other interested individuals to establish a community response to the needs of local individuals and families who lived in poverty or were homeless. DCM officially incorporated in August 1990 and began operations as a meals program in February 1991. The shelter and resource center began operating in 1993. The transitional hous

ing program began in 1995. The Family Transitional Housing Program began operations in 2001. We began a cold weather shelter in January 2006. We partnered with a local developer and the Yolo County Housing Authority to develop Cesar Chavez Plaza in Davis which provides 52 units of affordable housing with 19 units of permanent supportive housing set aside for special needs individuals, generally homeless or formerly homeless individuals. Our goal is to provide individuals and families with the basic necessities of life and to provide a wide array of housing opportunities and supportive services to help them become self-sufficient and able to seek and maintain permanent housing.

With the unwavering belief of our Program Manager, Becky Marigo, Ricardo embarked on a journey of self-discovery and rebuilding. Through DCMH's structured programs and compassionate care, Ricardo rediscovered his sense of purpose and learned to navigate life's challenges with strength and determination.

Today, at 39 years old, Ricardo is thriving. From securing stable employment to finding a safe and supportive home in one of Paul's Place's permanent supportive micro apartments, his journey is a beacon of hope for others facing similar struggles.

Ricardo's story is just one of many that highlight the life-changing impact of DCMH. As the newly appointed executive director, I am honored to continue the legacy of compassion and support established by my predecessor, Bill Pride.

It's a testament to our collective commitment to addressing homelessness and supporting our neighbors in need. It was even designed to resemble a goal post in front, symbolizing progress and achievement for those taking the courageous step towards stability.

DCMH, in partnership with Davis City, Heart of Davis, and other community groups, is supporting our town's winter shelter. We are seeking volunteers to help staff the shelter, a place where the most vulnerable can be safe and warm during cold winter months.

If you are interested in helping, especially during the holidays, please email [email protected] and include your name, phone number, email address, and days and times you would be available.

Christmas and New Year's Day shifts are:

7:15 AM - 9:15 AM
9 AM - 12 PM
11:45 AM - 3 PM
2:45 PM - 5:45 PM
