Control is key. Throttle-assisted riding on a Type 2 e-bike can change how quickly you move, reducing reaction time for both you and others around you. Ride defensively, avoid sudden acceleration or movements, maintain a safe following distance, and always be prepared to stop for pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles, or unexpected hazards.

The Davis Police Department is advising the community of a reported mountain lion sighting near Kestrel Place and the bike path. Residents are encouraged to use caution when walking, biking, or recreating in the area, especially during early morning and evening hours.

Mountain lions are generally elusive and avoid human contact, but community members should remain alert and follow safety precautions:

• Do not approach or attempt to follow the animal
• Keep children and pets close
• Avoid jogging or biking alone in isolated areas

The sighting has been reported to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and officers are monitoring the area.

Anyone who sees a mountain lion should call 9-1-1.
