The Yolo County Democratic Party is proud to endorse Preston Jackson for West Sacramento City Council, District 3.

Preston has spent his career in the classroom and on the track as a teacher and coach. When the community needed steady leadership most, he stepped up: as President of the Washington Unified School District Board, Preston helped guide West Sacramento's schools through the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the hardest tests any local leader has faced. He brought that same dedication and tenacity to the Planning Commission, and now he is ready to bring it to the City Council. West Sacramento needs someone who will repair its roads, invest in real public safety and behavioral health response, and expand housing that working families can actually afford, without pushing out the neighbors who already live here. Preston has already shown he can lead through hard moments and get results. He has earned the support of community leaders including current District 3 Council Member Dr. Dawnté Early and Washington Unified Trustee Jackie Thu-Huong Wong.

Vote for Preston Jackson this November. West Sacramento deserves leadership it can count on, and that's exactly what he offers.

The Yolo County Democratic Party is proud to endorse Verna Sulpizio Hull for re-election to the West Sacramento City Council, District 4.

Verna's family put down roots in West Sacramento back in 1987, the same year the city incorporated, and she's grown alongside it ever since. Over the past four years on the council, she's delivered real results for West Sacramento: new firefighters and police officers funded through Measure O, a Small Business Accelerator Program that's put more than $1 million in grants into local businesses, a Tourism Improvement District that's growing the city's economy, and a Homeless Emergency Housing Program that's stabilized more than 120 people through interim motel housing. She's also championed investment in the parks families use every day, including Westacre, Washington, Bryte, and Heritage Oaks. As Mayor Pro Tem and the former President and CEO of the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce, she's shown she knows how to turn ideas into progress for families and small businesses alike.

Verna has earned the trust of leaders across our region, including Senator Christopher Cabaldon and Supervisor Oscar Villegas, and she has earned the endorsement of the Yolo County Democratic Party. Send her back to the council so that she can continue fighting for a better West Sacramento.

The Woodland Police Department is asking for the community’s help locating 17-year-old Jesus Hernan Arizmendi.

With permission from Jesus’ family, we are sharing this information as detectives actively work to locate him. Jesus was last seen during the morning hours of Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Woodland, California. He left his phone and wallet at the residence.

If you have seen Jesus or have any information regarding his whereabouts, please contact the Woodland Police Department Tip Line at 530-661-7850.

Bring our sailors and their parents HOME.

SHAMEFUL: Trump’s DHS detained the father of a U.S. sailor aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, the same ship that has spent a record 250 days at sea, leading to unthinkable living conditions.

Luis Manuel Aviles, the father of U.S. sailor Joshua Aviles, was detained over the weekend. According to his family, Luis has been in the country for nearly 20 years and has no prior criminal accusations or arrest record.

The USS Abraham Lincoln is now heading back to the United States, and Joshua took to social media to express his outrage about his father’s arrest: “I’ve been deployed for nine months, out at sea in the Middle East…fighting for a country that has given me everything.”

“This is heartbreaking for me. I don’t know how I can mentally continue working 12+ hour days knowing that my dad is somewhere, possibly being treated like a criminal.”

Despite the families of active-duty service members being shielded from deportation for decades, the Trump administration has detained over 50 military spouses and parents.

Our brave service members and their families deserve better.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us this week during the Yolo County Fair! We had a great time talking to Yolo County's residents about the upcoming election in November and the work that the Yolo County Democratic Party is doing to advocate for our values at the local level. We received a ton of encouragement and support. Onward to election day!
