🍯Shanah Tovah U’Metukah — a good and sweet year!

🇺🇸 Twenty-five years ago today, we lost 2,977 innocent lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93. Today, the Davie Police Department pauses to honor their memory and the sacrifices of every first responder and service member who answered the call that day and in the years since.

But 9/11 is also remembered for what happened in the days after. Strangers became neighbors. Lines to donate blood stretched for blocks. Flags appeared on every porch, and a shaken nation found strength in each other instead of division. That spirit of unity — of putting country and community before self — is the legacy we choose to carry forward.

❤️🤍💙 We will never forget the lives lost. We will never forget the heroes who ran in when everyone else ran out. And we will never forget how, for a moment, an entire nation stood as one.

👀📱Eyes up. Phones down. Lives depend on it.

➡️ Over the past week, students at NSU University School and Nova High School had the opportunity to learn about the dangers of distracted driving through the “Hang Up and Drive” presentation. The presentation tells the story of Jacy Good and Steve Johnson and how the dangers of distracted driving impacted their lives.

The presentation was sponsored by the Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition with assistance from FDOT Southeast Florida and Florida Target Zero. It was brought to the schools by the Davie Police Department, whose traffic officers who are also members of the Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition.

This important program reminds us that one text, one notification, or one quick glance at a phone can have life-changing consequences.

The message is simple: When you’re behind the wheel, your only job is to drive.

Let’s work together to make every trip a safe one. Hang up and drive.

🏠 A House Becomes a Home 🏠

A couple days ago, our Community Policing Unit (COP) teamed up with our Homeless Outreach Coordinator to pick up donated furniture and deliver it to a community member who recently received housing assistance through our partnership with TaskForce for Ending Homelessness (www.taskforcefl.org). Thanks to the generosity of our community and the tireless work of our outreach team, this individual now has furniture to make their new place feel like home.

🎒☕ Backpacks, smiles, and community!

The Davie Police Department had a great time joining Haute Coffee for their Backpack Giveaway! It was a pleasure spending time with our community and helping make sure local students are ready to head back to school with the supplies they need. 📚✏️

A huge thank you to Haute Coffee for putting together such a great event and for their continued commitment to giving back to our community. We’re always proud to support events that bring our residents together and make a positive impact on our youth. 💙
