It’s that time of year when Friends of Kings Branch Flat Creek Natural Area remember 2023's blessings with gratitude!
We want to thank all those wonderful “Friends” who helped the cause to keep this public land safely accessible by encouraging elected officials to make positive changes for safe and fair access for all Anne Arundel residents. Your unselfish support and work for others helps to ensure access to this public land for future generations!
We are thankful that in March the entrance was moved 20 feet from privately-owned (posted) land back to the public right of way … granting safer public access to get to the $2.2M stream restoration area.
We are thankful that after owning this property since 1996, AA County made the official address 1015 Ashe Street in Davidsonville, and listed it on their website and Park Finder App. These online tools still need to properly categorize the park under “natural area” and “trails” because hiking was used as partial justification for stream restoration funding.
We are thankful that AA County installed a large custom-made Park Rules & Regulations sign inside the Ashe Street entrance.
We are thankful that more people are aware of and now enjoy this beautiful, serene public land - ending 27 years of obscurity to most.
New Year’s Resolution: FriendsKBFC will keep working to get back close parking for six cars at the end of Ashe Street, to offset what the public lost in June with the “No Parking” signs closest to the entrance - which would only cost about 3 tenths of 1% of Rec & Parks’ $90 million annual budget. If you want to help, contact Anne Arundel County.
