Congratulations to our incumbent Sheriff, Tom Dion, for being endorsed by the Butler County Republican Party.

Tom is running for his 3rd term. Tom started his 26-year career in law enforcement with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office in 1999, graduating from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in 2000.

Tom started as a road deputy, then became Butler County's first K-9 Handler in 2002. In the following years, Tom reached the rank of sergeant. In 2017, Tom ran against incumbent Sheriff Marcus Siebken and defeated him in the election.

Tom has been a resident of Butler County for 34 years. He and his wife, Theresa, of 43 years, raised their 3 daughters in David City and now get to watch their 1st Grandson grow up here. He is also a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1982 to 1988, receiving an Honorable Discharge. He is a member of American Legion Post 125 and Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Tom looks forward to continuing his service to the residents of Butler County and would really appreciate your vote on May 12th.

The Butler County Republican Party proudly endorses Scott Griess for County Supervisor, District 7.

Scott Griess is the incumbent Supervisor for District 7, having served on the Butler County Board of Supervisors since his appointment in 2024. He currently serves on the Planning and Zoning, Insurance, Safety, and Region V Committees.

Scott is an advocate for fiscal responsibility on the Board and has personally demonstrated his commitment to this principle by declining the $6,000 annual stipend paid to Supervisors who decline insurance. He voted against the last wage increase for County Supervisors and successfully advocated for a reduction in the Board’s property tax request amount for the current budget year. He has a record of asking tough questions, challenging the status quo and watching out for the taxpayer.

Scott has worked at Duncan Aviation for 31 years and currently manages the Calibration Lab, a role that demands precision, strong attention to detail and analytical skills. He previously served on the Ulysses Township Board and with the Ulysses Fire Department. Scott is also an active member of the Butler County Republican Party and currently serves as Secretary. Scott and his wife, Melanie, have resided in rural Butler County for 23 years where they have raised their 9 children.
