Recently, several Davenport Police Cadets took part in the Basic and Intermediate Ride-Along Academy hosted by the Polk County Sheriff’s Cadets Program. During this week-long training, they joined cadets from other agencies to learn and train in areas such as forensics, CPR and first aid, DUI investigations, and crowd control. At the end of the academy, each cadet earned a certificate of completion, recognizing their commitment to developing skills that will help them better serve our community.

National Police Week was originally established by presidential proclamation in 1962 to honor the courage and dedication of law enforcement officers. We were proud to start this week’s observance with a visit from Polk County Dispatchers, who stopped by to show their appreciation for our night shift officers. These dispatchers are truly the backbone of law enforcement, and their support reminds us that behind every badge is a story of service and family. We value their partnership as we continue to serve and protect the Davenport community together.
