Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley Donate your time or money to help a child reach their potential. It might be the start of something

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the countr

y. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

We’re forming a committee for our upcoming euchre event on October 22!

We’re looking for community members to help bring this new event to life—supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley through planning, outreach, securing in-kind donations, and helping make the night a success.

Committee meetings will begin in August and will be held about once per month leading up to the event.

I NEVER would have been able to do this! Meet Over the Edge Participant, Michael Dunn.

Born with severe hemophilia A, years of internal bleeding caused severe damage to his knee, making everyday activities painful and limiting what he could do. Then, a total knee replacement changed everything.

Today, he's a chiropractor, dance instructor, performer, and community volunteer. This August, he'll celebrate the 10-year anniversary of that life-changing surgery by rappelling 11 stories down the side of the Hotel Blackhawk for Over the Edge.

Why? Because he knows firsthand how powerful a single opportunity can be.

"When Big Brothers Big Sisters connects a young person with a caring mentor, they're opening doors to possibilities that may not yet be visible."

Want to join him?

Register for Over the Edge between now and July 4, and you'll be entered to win $250 toward your fundraising goal, courtesy of GreenState Credit Union. Use code AMERICA250 when you register at OverTheEdgeQC.org

🏈 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 St. Ambrose University Football Team

Last month, players from St. Ambrose University joined our Littles for an afternoon of flag football. While they may have come to play football, they also demonstrated some of the most important lessons of mentoring.

Mentoring isn't about having all the answers—it's about showing up, being present, and helping a young person see what's possible.

There are children across the Quad Cities waiting for a mentor—some have been waiting for years. Ready to learn more? Send us a message or give us a call. We'd love to tell you how you can become a Big.
