**Update** on yesterday’s unresponsive child at a residence in rural Scott County. During the time of the incident it was found that a 2-year-old child fell into a pool upon the property for an undetermined amount of time. As family went looking for the child they located her and started life saving methods immediately and called 911 at 2:24 pm. The child was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals, but upon arrival the child was pronounced deceased. This incident is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.

**Original Press Release**

On Sunday, September 6th, 2026 at approximately 2:24pm, Scott Emergency Communications Center received a call of an unresponsive juvenile at a residence on Maysville Rd.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office along with medical personnel responded to the scene and started medical treatment. MedForce Air staff arrived and transported the child to the University of Iowa Hospitals. The child’s condition is unknown at the time of this press release.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office Criminal
Investigations Division is conducting an investigation into the incident.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by: Scott Emergency Communications, Scott County MEDIC EMS, MedForce, and Walcott Fire Department.
