Today, we celebrated a milestone that feels both joyful and bittersweet at Fillmore Elementary.

Our fifth graders walked across the stage at their promotion ceremony, and with each smile, hug, and proud glance, we were reminded just how much they have grown. These students arrived as little learners with big dreams, and now they leave our halls as confident, capable young people ready for middle school and all the adventures ahead.

We have watched them learn, lead, laugh, persevere, and support one another through every challenge and celebration. They have filled Fillmore with energy, kindness, curiosity, and unforgettable memories.

While it is hard to say goodbye, we could not be prouder of the amazing individuals they are becoming. No matter where they go next, they will always be part of the Fillmore family, because once a Flyer, always a Flyer. 💙💛🚀

Congratulations, fifth graders. Your future is bright, and we cannot wait to see all the incredible things you will accomplish

Today, Fillmore’s halls were filled with something truly special. ❤️

Former Flyers returned home in their graduation gowns, walking the same hallways where their dreams first began. Our students lined the halls cheering them on, eyes wide with excitement, seeing a future version of themselves in every cap and gown that passed by.

For our graduates, it was a full-circle moment. For our youngest Flyers, it was a glimpse of what is possible.

At Fillmore, we don’t just watch students grow for a few years — we carry them in our hearts long after they leave our classrooms. Seeing these graduates come back reminded us that every book read, every lesson learned, every encouraging word, and every small moment matters.

Once a Flyer, always a Flyer. 🚀💙💛

📚 APB: The Great Library Book Roundup!
It’s that time of year again! We need your help getting our beloved books back to their home on the library shelves.

📅 The Deadline
Please ensure all library books are returned on or before May 15.

🕵️‍♂️ Search Tips
Books have a way of hiding when they don't want the story to end! We recommend checking:
The usual suspects: Under beds, behind couches, and in those overstuffed backpacks.
On the go: Check the back seat or trunk of the car.
The Village: Ask co-parents, grandparents, or babysitters if a book accidentally hitched a ride to their house.

⚠️ The Fine Print (Literally)
Missing Books: Any books not found during our final inventory will be assessed a fine for the full value of the book.
Found it late? No problem! If a "lost" book is found and returned later, the fine will be completely deleted from your child’s account.

🎟️ Return for Rewards!
We want to make this fun! If all of your child's books are turned in during the week of May 15, they will be entered into our Yearly Library Raffle for a chance to win some awesome prizes!

Help us fill the pizza board and our bellies, Flyers! 🍕✈️

We have started our 4th Quarter Attendance Challenge. We want to see every Flyer in class, every day!

When our school-wide attendance hits 95%, we earn a slice. A full pizza board means a Papa John’s pizza lunch for the entire school! 😋

The THIRD Annual Davenport North Youth Show Choir Camp is BACK—and we’re ready to make Summer 2026 the best one yet! 💙💛

After two incredible summers, we’re bringing the energy, confidence-building, and fun back for Quad City Area students entering 4th–9th grade (26-27 school year). Whether your child is brand new or returning, this is the place to sing loud, dance big, and shine on stage!

💥📚 **BOOK BLAST SUCCESS AT FILLMORE!** 📚💥

**BOOM! Today our school blasted off with BOOKS!** 🚀

Because of the incredible generosity of our Fillmore families and friends, **over 700 books** went home with our students today — and the best part… **every single Fillmore student received a book for their home library!** 🎉📖

Building home libraries helps students grow into strong readers, and **reading together at home is one of the best ways to support learning and spark a lifelong love of reading.** Even a few minutes of reading together each day can make a big difference. ❤️

🌟Heart of Excellence Award Recipient: Rolanda Butler 🌟

Rolanda Butler has been a cornerstone of Fillmore Elementary for more than 30 years. 💙 From her start as a paraeducator to becoming a Special Education Teacher, she has supported generations of students with positivity, care, and unwavering dedication, Her strong relationships and commitment to student growth have made a lasting impact on countless families.

🎉 Fillmore Families—You SHOWED UP! 🎉

Fillmore really showed out for our recent Book Blast, and we couldn’t be more proud! Thanks to your amazing support:

📚 783 books are going directly into the hands of our students
👧🧒 162 students signed up — and every single student will receive a FREE book!
📈 Student participation jumped from 30% to 45% — that’s a 50% increase!

Because of this incredible effort:
✨ Mrs. Shiltz, Mrs. Allbee, Ms. Brokaw, and Ms. Morris each earned $100 shopping sprees for books and classroom materials
✨ The library earned a $200 shopping spree to get even more books into students’ hands

🎁 We still have 67 students waiting for prizes and ONE Epic Treasure Chest left to give away!
📦 Books and prizes will be in students’ hands the week of March 9.

This is what happens when a community comes together to support reading and learning. Way to go, Fillmore! 💙📖👏
