We are thrilled to announce that on February 23rd, the 7th District IDOC will officially open the Resource Room!
The Challenge: In todayโs world, getting back on your feet requires at least 2 things: access and community engagement. Applying for a job, securing housing, and accessing essential benefits all happen digitally and frequently require assistance from someone familiar with the specific process. For many working toward reentry, lack of access and assistance aren't just inconveniences, but barriers to building a stable life.
Our Solution: The Resource Room is a dedicated, quiet space equipped with computers and internet access designed to bridge this gap. It is a place where individuals can focus on building resumes, completing education, and finding housing.
๐ Hours of Operation: Starting Feb. 23rd, the center will be open for walk-ins: Mondays: 12 - 4pm and Tuesdays & Thursdays: 8am โ 12pm.
๐ค We Need Your Vision: We believe that reentry is a community effort. While we are providing hardware and space, true success comes from people.
Because reentry is not "one-size-fits-all", we are taking a unique approach: We are adaptively developing this resource based on the feedback of the individuals utilizing the room. We don't have all the answers right now, but we are committed to keeping this space flexible to meet our clients' evolving needs.
This is where you come in. We would love to hear how your organization envisions partnering with the IDOC. We are issuing an open invitation to local nonprofits, employers, landlords, colleges, etc. to help us innovate.
We are looking for partners who can:
Host workshops (digital literacy, resume writing, etc.) Provide mentoring or job search assistance
Help us expand our hours to reach more people
Tell us your ideas! How can your services fit into this space? Get Involved: If you or your organization would like to partner with us to create opportunities for safer communities, please send an email to [email protected].
Letโs work together to provide the tools our neighbors need to build independent, successful lives!
