Press Release
Multi-Vehicle Crash Temporarily Closes Dauphin Island Bridge

At approximately 11:57 a.m. today, law enforcement and emergency personnel responded to a reported multi-vehicle crash on the Dauphin Island Bridge.

Upon arrival, officers determined the incident involved a four-vehicle rear-end collision. Due to the severity of the crash scene and to allow emergency crews to safely assist those involved, all lanes of the bridge, both northbound and southbound, were temporarily shut down.

Four people were transported to local hospitals with what are believed to be minor injuries. No life-threatening injuries have been reported at this time.

Officers from the Dauphin Island Police Department responded alongside paramedics, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, and Alabama Marine Resources personnel. Traffic control and scene management efforts continued for several hours while the crash was investigated and vehicles were removed from the roadway.

At approximately 2:35 p.m., the bridge was fully reopened to traffic.

The Dauphin Island Police Department appreciates the patience and cooperation of motorists during the closure and thanks all assisting agencies for their coordinated response and professionalism.
