Darrington School District A small school and community united to inspire student success. Proudly serving over 400 students We simply ask that participants remain respectful.

Darrington School District is comprised of two schools: Darrington Elementary, which serves students in grades PK-8, and Darrington High School, grades 9-12. The District provides opportunities to students in core academic subjects, performing and visual arts, alternative/online education, and college-prep curricula. We are excited by new opportunities in College in the High School courses. Throug

h community collaborations and the hard work of our staff the Darrington School District is emerging as a leader in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs. Our schools boast a variety of activities and extracurricular activities. In partnership with our community, youth sports are offered in football, volleyball, basketball and baseball. Students have the opportunity to participate in STEM and community enrichment activities, with a strong focus on outdoor recreation. Instrumental music is offered in middle school, and drama for secondary students. Our career and technical education programs provide opportunities for students to build college and career readiness. Darrington High School varsity teams represent our schools and community with pride, and include Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Wrestling, Baseball and Softball. Our District serves the town of Darrington and surrounding area. Nestled in the Cascade Mountains and surrounded by mountains and scenic rivers. Our rich history includes the legacy of the Sauk-Suiattle Tribe, the area’s first residents, who remain an integral part of our community. The Gold Rush of 1889 led to the formation of present-day Darrington in 1892. Our legacy in the timber industry continues to the present, and is reflected in our mascot, the Loggers. Forestry and natural resources, along with outdoor recreation and local events, make Darrington a great place to live, to learn and to grow together. Social Media User Guidelines

Padilla Bay became the perfect outdoor classroom as Mrs. Wiersma’s 2nd grade class set off on an exciting field trip full of discovery, learning, and adventure! Students explored the wonders of marine life, observed local wildlife, and got hands-on with nature while learning about the unique ecosystem of the bay. From beach exploration to curious questions and big smiles, the day was filled with unforgettable memories and plenty of second grade excitement!

Mrs Miller's third grade class along with Mrs.Lucas’s 3/4th grade went to the SPARK Museum in Bellingham for an electrifying performance and show about electricity. The amazing opportunity was funded by a generous grant from the VanArnam Foundation. Students extended learning about conductors and resistors. A few brave parents and teachers entered the “Cage off Doom” to be zapped by a giant Tesla coil! Thank you to the VanArnams and many parent volunteers who made this possible!

Q: What was your favorite memory from High School?
A: Making varsity cheer and All American my freshman year.

Q: What advice do you have for underclassmen?
A: Don't be disrespectful and crowd the hallways; it is not difficult to move to the side or just go to class.

Q: What is your plan for next year?
A: Over the summer I will be working a part time job, writing frequently, and spending time with my family and friends as this chapter of my life comes to an end. In the fall I plan to continue working and go to Salem State University, living on campus, and working towards a Bachelor's of Arts in English and Creative Writing. I hope to have my own fully published book by the time I am 22, so hopefully you'll all see me again on the back of a book at Barnes & Noble.

Q: What was your favorite memory from High School?
A: My favorite memory from high school was spending time with friends at school events and making memories together. Whether it was football games, dances, club activities, or just hanging out between classes, those moments made high school special. Also showing up to school in cow onesies with Laci.

Q: What is some advice you would give to the underclassmen?
A: Don't be afraid to get involved and try new things. Join clubs, attend events, and meet new people. High school goes by faster than you expect, so make the most of the opportunities you have and don't let fear of failure stop you from trying something new.

Q: What is your plan for next year?
A: Next year, I plan to attend George Washington University (GWU) to pursue a degree in education and work toward becoming a teacher. While attending school I plan to work. I'm excited to start this new chapter and work toward a career where I can make a positive impact on others.
