With forest fires being a huge topic in the region, the City would like to remind residents of the Trash Burning Ordinance, which prohibits the burning of trash, garbage or other refuse within the City Limits without the prior approval of the Darlington Fire Department fire chief.

In addition, Gov. Henry McMaster has issued a statewide burning ban, and the Darlington County Fire District has also issued a burn ban for all unincorporated areas of Darlington County until further notice.

We're proud of the family of firefighters who make up our fire department.

On June 14, members of the Darlington Fire Department were presented with the South Carolina Fire Safe Award … which designates our city as a Fire Safe City. This award was only possible because of the hard work of a few individuals that had their eyes set on the prize and never let up! Thank you to the brave folks that want to make a difference in the community!

It's going to take each of us doing our part to keep Darlington beautiful.

Hopefully we will be able return to regular pick up days on the blue can. Once your can is emptied, please move to its storage area until it needs to be picked up again.

RECYCLING UPDATE (6-10-2024): Until further notice, please keep your blue recycling can by the road until it has been emptied. One of our trucks is still in the shop for repairs, and there's no timetable on its return. Our crews are working as quickly as possible.

Please continue following city ordinance for your green trash can.
