During this year’s EMS Week celebration, A Shift participated in a class sponsored by the Hendricks Regional Wellness Team. The class introduced new physical fitness techniques and wellness skills designed to help our crews maintain overall health and readiness both on and off duty.

This year’s national EMS Week theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” was reflected throughout the day’s activities. Along with the fitness class, crews participated in EMS team-building games, while enjoying a sponsored lunch from The Kickstand. Three prizes were also awarded to on-duty crew members during the celebration. Congratulations to Firefighter Paramedic Goheen, Paramedic Lowe and Paramedic Esch.

Continuing the spirit of "Improving Outcomes, Together", all members worked side-by-side, gained new experiences, and strengthened relationships while engaging in events sponsored by the community we proudly serve.

Thank you, Hendricks Regional Wellness Team and The Kickstand, for your support!

May is National Stop the Bleed Month, and in dedication to National EMS Week 2026, our department proudly hosted its first-ever Stop the Bleed class open to the public.

Participants learned lifesaving skills, including bleeding control techniques, tourniquet application, and how immediate action can help save lives before emergency responders arrive.

This marks an exciting first step in expanding our community outreach and public education programs. We look forward to continuing to offer these valuable classes in the future and helping make our community safer and more prepared.

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this initiative. Stay tuned for future training opportunities!

Danville Fire Department units were dispatched to a medical emergency and directed to stage at a safe distance until the scene was secured by law enforcement. While staged, crews proactively evaluated access options, as the primary driveway was blocked by a stopped train and there was no alternate roadway to the opposite side of the tracks.

Crews developed a plan to access the patient immediately upon clearance. Within minutes, the train moved, and once law enforcement confirmed the scene was secure, units gained access without delay.
