Housing Authority of Danville

Housing Authority of Danville As a federally assisted agency regulated by the U.S. Housing assistance is income-based, ensuring accessibility to those in need.

Formed in 1950, the Housing Authority of Danville is a public housing agency funded by the federal government and administered by the Housing Authority of Danville for the jurisdiction of City of Danville & Boyle County in Kentucky. The mission of the Housing Authority of Danville is to cost effectively assist eligible very low- and low-income families by providing opportunities for affordable housing and socioeconomic advancement in a discrimination-free environment; and to affirmatively address the physical needs of the Authority’s housing developments to ensure a decent, safe, and sanitary environment for employees and residents. Since 1950, the Housing Authority of Danville has been dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable housing opportunities for residents of Danville and Boyle County, Kentucky. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), we serve our community through the Public Housing Program, ensuring safe and stable housing for very low- to low-income individuals, families, seniors, and persons with disabilities. Governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners – including the Mayor and a Resident Commissioner – the Housing Authority of Danville owns and manages 394 public housing units across eleven neighborhoods. Beyond housing, we are committed to enhancing the well-being of our residents by offering a range of supportive programs and services. These include:

• Community Gardening – Encouraging sustainable living and healthy food choices.
• Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program – Providing pathways to economic independence.
• Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) Program – Supporting residents in achieving personal and financial goals.
• Mobile Food Pantry & Food Box Distributions – Addressing food insecurity within our community.
• Senior Commodities Delivery Services – Assisting senior residents with essential food supplies.
• Community Service Center – Offering educational and recreational programs that promote discipline, respect, and personal growth. At the Housing Authority of Danville, we are more than housing providers – we are community builders, striving to create opportunities that foster self-sufficiency and improve the quality of life for those we serve.

🎉 NEW PLAYGROUNDS ARE COMING! 🛝🌳

We’re excited to share some great news with our residents! New playground equipment is on the way to Crescent Drive, Burckley Homes, and Coyle Manor!

These new playgrounds will provide our children with safe, fun, and welcoming spaces to play, explore, and make memories right here in their communities.

The playground equipment has arrived and is currently being prepared for installation. We’ll keep our residents updated as we move closer to installation and opening day!

We’re proud to continue investing in our properties and, most importantly, in the families and children who call them home.

Affordable housing is about more than buildings, it’s about families, seniors, workers, and the stability of our entire community.

In this op-ed, I share why I believe Danville and Boyle County have an opportunity to do something bigger: bring the Housing Authority, the City’s Section 8 and Urban Renewal operations, local leaders, developers, nonprofits, and community partners to the same table and create a coordinated housing strategy.

Housing authorities can be more than landlords and program administrators. With access to land, federal partnerships, development expertise, and tools like Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, we can help leverage public resources, attract private investment, and create new affordable housing opportunities.

The challenge is too big for any one organization to solve alone.

Affordable housing is a community issue, and it will take the entire community working together to solve it.

I invite you to read the full op-ed and join the conversation about the future of affordable housing in Danville and Boyle County.

When we talk about affordable housing, it is easy to think only about buildings, apartments, rent payments or government programs. But affordable housing is about much more than where someone […]

🎉 BIG NEWS FOR OUR RESIDENTS AND COMMUNITY! 🎉

The Housing Authority of Danville is proud to announce that we have been awarded funding through HUD’s FY2025 Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) Program!

Through this highly competitive grant program, HUD awarded $37 million nationwide to 114 organizations committed to helping residents achieve greater self-sufficiency and economic independence. We are honored to be among the agencies selected.

This grant allows us to continue providing dedicated service coordination to our residents by connecting families, seniors, and individuals with valuable resources such as:
✅ Educational and financial literacy programs
✅ Health and wellness services
✅ Community resources and supportive services
✅ Programs that promote long-term self-sufficiency

The renewal of our ROSS grant is a testament to the hard work of our staff, the dedication of our community partners, and the resilience and determination of the residents we serve every day.

We extend our sincere gratitude to HUD, our local partners, our Board of Commissioners, and especially our residents for allowing us to continue this important work.

Together, we are building stronger families, stronger communities, and brighter futures.
