As we celebrate our 30th anniversary we'll be sharing photos and facts from the last 30 years. We hope you all enjoy this walk down memory lane with us.

In the summer of 1999 The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region awarded its first scholarship. The John Watson Daniel Scholarship was awarded to Jessica Lauren Turner. Turner was a 1999 graduate of George Washington High School.

Today, the Rotary Club of Danville was pleased to welcome Dan Hayes from the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region. Dan gave us an inside look at how the Foundation connects donors with the needs of our community — from establishing a fund and investing those gifts to awarding grants and creating lasting community impact.

The Community Foundation currently manages 214 funds and $98.9 million in assets, with more than $2 million in grants awarded last year. In 2026, 165 students received more than $400,000 in scholarships.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Foundation has also raised more than $30 million over the past four years to support our community.

Thank you, Dan, for sharing the incredible impact the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region continues to have throughout our community!

Interested in getting more involved in our community? We’d love to have you join us at the Rotary Club of Danville! We meet every Tuesday from 12:30–1:30 p.m. at the Danville Conference Center. Come meet some great people, hear from community leaders, and be part of making a difference right here at home!

The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region will be closed today (Monday, September 7) in recognition of Labor Day.

We have a lot to celebrate! Thirty years ago today, The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region (CFDRR) was officially established. Originally known as the DPC Community Foundation, CFDRR has provided a way for donors to support their philanthropic goals locally through the creation of funds and scholarships.
