It appears President Trump will have more to say about the Microporous project than anyone. With the loss of the $100 million originally approved by the Biden regime, President Trump probably dealt the project a death blow. I certainly hope so! The little secret that no one wants to talk about is the 12-year tax free bill that Microporous has manipulated on our current county leadership. Why would anyone approve of such a lamebrained idea is beyond me. Let us hope that with the focus taken away from green energy technologies, the Megasite will have a better partner that pays its fair share to the community.

President Donald Trump on Monday halted federal funding for Green New Deal projects, including those supporting electric vehicles. Spokespeople for two companies awaiting such funding say they’re unsure whether or how their specific projects will be impacted.

It appears the actions of a General Assembly committee are providing the possible cover needed for the General Assembly approving solar projects regardless of what local entities want. With a 7-5 vote, The Commission on Electric Utility Regulation passed a recommendation to the full General Assembly that a Virginia Energy Facility Review Board be instituted to have overview of any large scale solar project taking that power away from a local entity. That means that counties with large land masses will be susceptible to the whims of the rest of the state for them big green energy projects that will ultimately affect those that lack the political power to be heard. This kind of thinking is what got our state in front of the 30 percent of Virginia’s electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030 and 100 percent of Virgina’s electricity from carbon-free sources by 2040. There is only one way that mandate occurs and that’s if the state government takes control of renewable energy resources.

After the last two disastrous economic deals, one at the Mega Site for a 12 year tax-free year deal and the paver company at a 65% tax break over an unreported time, the current board had better jump on this new Balico proposal that gives the county a reported $100 million a year in tax revenues. This project could open the door to a countywide property tax decrease instead of the tax give away that those two widely proclaimed projects did instead. It seems like that would be a no-brainer for this board, but someone would need to show some leadership for that to happen! I guess it is hard looking out for what is best for the county and one’s political career at the same time when you don’t have a county administrator or attorney to hold your hands through the decision. I'm sure Frank Fox will show us the way!

Looks like my good friend Alan Casper is doubling down on stupid! If Alan were “100 percent” right, he wouldn’t need to go out making a sale of Fox who will probably need someone telling him how to do the job (just what Vic Ingram wants I am assuming). Let’s see, Frank doesn’t have the education for one, has lost multiple elections as a supervisor for two, and being a flunky for the fire & rescue crowd doesn’t seal the deal in my humble opinion. If you wanted to pick someone from the area as our county administrator, I could think of few that would have the qualifications and that could do a masterful job.

For the record, I don’t hate all fireman. Just the ones that wear the moniker like a badge of honor and try to stiff the taxpaying members of this community. The fire & rescue folks plundered the county for about an extra $300k for this year’s budget and it will be fundamental that they get a “yes” man in as county administrator so they bend over the county again with this year’s budget. They have already started the budget process for next year with no signs showing they will ever bring accountability into their chosen hobby. So, when I say you are going to pay a higher property rate next year, you can bank on it.

The only good thing about hiring this fire & rescue puppet is the cost. At $125k per year in salary they won’t have to pay Fox that much to say yes.

I love it when people put their two cents in on one of the more important decisions that will be made for this county and they are so full of stupid I almost feel bad at showing people his opinion. I guess being a fireman makes him qualified for everything. Alan Casper's suggestion (straight from Vic Ingram no doubt), that Frank Fox should be the new county administrator is beyond ludicrous. A county administrator should have a master’s degree in public administration minimum with some amount of work history, but poor Frank doesn’t even have a bachelor’s degree. I say lets continue the pathetic route this county has been on since Vic got control of the county and let’s follow the comical whims of Casper. The board had this option available prior to spending the $25k from the Danville Regional Foundation for a nationwide search. Saving the taxpayer’s money hasn’t been one of Vic’s strong suits, I must say!

Just wanted to let everyone know that Vic has had his legal fees for his corrupt conduct as the chairman of the Board of Supervisors in 2022 paid for. This board’s unwillingness to make Vic accountable in any way for his abusive neglect when it comes to following federal law makes one wonder exactly what it would take to get them to follow that oath of office they all took when they became the leaders of this county. You see, each board member took an oath to follow the Constitution, and when you can’t seem to follow the 1st Amendment, I think you have given up any right to lead others. Just add the amount paid to all the other unnecessary charges Vic has cost the county. In a sane world, a conviction would make a difference to anyone that cares about a legitimate government.

Remarkable that the county is showing so much job growth, but you have to ask at what expense. Reading deep into this article we find that at 55 jobs, the company will receive 65% tax rebate “for a limited time.” This article neglects to report just how long they will receive this tax incentive and makes me wonder. Adding the $1,500 per job you have to ask when Cambridge will start paying anything. I’m all for giving some kind of incentive for the company to come here but giving away so much of the money that the taxpayer ends paying in the long run is bizarre. With the next budget year in the works, with no county administrator or attorney to speak of, can anyone guess what our property tax rate will be? I guess we should just appreciate the fact that this board didn’t give them the 100% tax rebate for 12 years that they gave Microporous at the Mega Site. That was a doozy! Great news for the county I must say.

Looks like the Register & Bee finally got on board with Vaden’s payout from his resignation. Shame they wouldn’t report on the “why” Vaden decided to leave the county putting our us in further jeopardy from the knuckleheads now running the county with no apparent oversight. The current board, along with Vic Ingram’s ineptitude, will do whatever it takes to placate the city in their eyes for the outlook of this region. The county is good enough for the land we have like the proposed annexation coming per the Southern VA Megasite website, but not for the casino profits that the city stiffed us on. Someone had better start lobbying the state for adequate leadership of our fair-haired locality before these clowns give away everything that makes our county a place worth living for.

A little birdy told me that Vic is trying to renege on this payout. I hope he tries. Vaden knows where all the bodies have been buried since Vic took control of the board in 2022, and I would love to see Vic lose in court again.

Things are getting messier as your local government keeps chugging along wasting your hard earned money! After a seven month lack of leadership for the county, your illustrious Board of Supervisors has approved spending $25K in grant money from the Danville Regional Foundation that was allocated about seven months ago. Why it has taken so long to get this approved makes me wonder why Vic would want to control things for so long? Saving the county money isn’t one of the reasons. MGT Impact Solutions is already setting themselves up for failure with comments like “….many governments are vastly underfunded and understaffed…” to explain away any chance the search will have any success. Our problem is the board is getting rid of anyone working in the county with any experience. After Vic’s throw away of former administrator in David Smitherman in 2022 (probably cost the county $300k with cause), and Turille, the latest administrator (paid $125k without cause), you must wonder what’s up Vic’s sleeve to not have proper leadership in the county for what looks like a whole year. Vic wasn’t required to pay Turille a severance or accept the waiver of 30 days per his contract. Same with Vaden Hunt’s contract considering he resigned. Understandable though, as Vic had already tried to fire Vaden with the help of some lackeys in the county. Just add it to the list of what this board, at the direction of Vic, has cost you, the county taxpayer in the last 3 years to include that historic property tax increase! Don’t be surprised if Vic decides to hire someone local in the end. Any guesses at who that will be!

Sounds like the newspaper wants to help cover something up here. Vaden was given his full 1-year salary at $153k plus vacation for resigning, where he should have gotten nothing. The Register & Bee got it wrong by only reporting that Vaden got 6-months. I guess when one supervisor (Vic Ingram), wants to get rid of you so he can run the county, he will pay whatever it takes to get rid of you. Vic said “We have had some good days and some bad…”in talking about Vaden. The only bad days occurred when Vaden had to say no to yet another illegality on the part of Vic. I hope whoever is watching makes sure the board doesn’t get the Active 911 reinstalled on their phones. They have already been caught with one HIPAA violation and apparently it is very illegal for non-first responders to have, especially the board. Vaden was the only thing standing in Vic’s way! Just add the cost to the millions that have been expended due to Vic’s pathetic reign as the “leader” of your county.

I’m so happy that the current regime has finally landed something at the Megasite, thankful, if you will. I would however, have wished that the leaders in the county and the city had worried a little more about the cost that this project will have on those paying the bills. There are few businesses that can manipulate a tax free bonus for 12 years which they have given Microporous, and something this article neglected to mention for some reason. How this effects the local composite index and how much we have to increase the amount of funding for our school system remains to be seen! I guess we can only hope the judgement by those in control is a little better as they develop the county budget from the crumbs of the future projects that are promised at the Megasite. With no county administrator of attorney looking out for the best interests of the county currently, don’t expect it!
