The Boyle County Fire Protection District Board of Trustees meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 21 at 6:00 PM due to Kentucky Primary Election Day on May 19.

The meeting will be held at BCFD Headquarters, 1500 Lebanon Rd, Danville.

As of 3:30 PM today 5-1-26, Daniel Sims has officially been sworn in as Interim Fire Chief of the Boyle County Fire Department by Boyle County Judge Executive Trille Bottom.

Chief Sims will assume the radio designation “Fire 2” as he steps into this role, ensuring steady leadership and continuity of operations during this period of transition.

We would like to congratulate Chief Sims and thank him for his willingness to serve and lead the department forward. His commitment helps ensure that the citizens of Boyle County continue to receive the highest level of service and protection.

Today, we honor and celebrate the retirement of Assistant Fire Chief Tony Broyles (Stretch) after more than 50 years of dedicated service to the fire service and the citizens of Boyle County.

Chief Broyles began his journey with the Boyle County Fire Department in 1980, and through hard work, commitment, and leadership, rose through the ranks to serve as Assistant Fire Chief. In addition to his time with BCFD, he also served with the Louisville Fire Department and as a Battalion Chief with the Danville Fire Department, further demonstrating his lifelong commitment to protecting others.

His career has spanned generations, leaving a lasting impact on the department, the fire service, and the community he so faithfully served.

Today marks the end of an incredible chapter, and we thank him for the many years of service, sacrifice, and leadership he has given.

Chief Broyles, congratulations on your well-earned retirement. Enjoy every minute—you’ve earned it. We’ll take it from here.
