Mount Cross Volunteer Fire & Rescue We are a completely Volunteer Fire Department located about 5 miles outside of Danville, Virginia on Mt. Cross Road. Visit our website for more information!

We also provide Emergency Medical Services to the citizens of the Mount Cross community. For over 60 years, our Department had served the citizens of Pittsylvania County by providing Fire Protection and EMS First Response for the sick and injured. Update 5/26/26: Pittsylvania County Director of Public Safety Chris Key announced that the burn ban has been canceled,
effective Tuesday May 26 at 1pm. There has been sufficient rainfall since the ban was issued on April 24
to alleviate the abnormally dry conditions that could have led to widespread fire events. Residents are still
advised to continue with best practices when conducting open burning activities.

Please be mindful. As of today there is a complete outdoor burn ban in Pittsylvania County.
