This week, Mrs. Lay proudly represented the Danville School District at the Arkansas Association of Instructional Media (AAIM) Conference, joining librarians from across the state to learn, collaborate, and share innovative ideas that support student learning.
Mrs. Lay presented two conference sessions, sharing successful practices from our district and library program. One of her sessions was so well attended that it reached capacity, and conference organizers asked her to present it a second time to accommodate additional participants. She also stepped up when a scheduled presenter was unable to attend, partnering with another librarian to lead an impromptu session and ensuring attendees still received a valuable professional learning experience.
Mrs. Lay values opportunities to represent Danville Schools beyond the library walls. Whether being a member of the AAIM board, editing the AAIM Journal for the librarians in Arkansas, collaborating with educators across the state, or mentoring and supporting fellow librarians, she is committed to helping strengthen both our district and library programs throughout the state.
One of the highlights of the conference was watching her own principal, Mrs. Phomsithi, be recognized as AAIM Administrator of the Year. Mrs. Lay was honored to celebrate this well-deserved achievement and witness a leader who has been such a strong advocate for literacy, libraries, and student success receive statewide recognition.
We are grateful for all librarians who work tirelessly to create welcoming, safe spaces where students feel seen, supported, and inspired to learn. Through their dedication to literacy, innovation, and lifelong learning, librarians open doors to new opportunities for students every day. Thank you to Mrs. Lay and librarians across our district and state for the lasting impact you make on the lives of children and the future of education.
