Message From Director: The Boone County Emergency Operations Center was established in April 1992, by the Boone County Commission, to provide an enhanced emergency dispatch center to serve the citizens of Boone County. The goal of The Boone County Emergency Operations Center will be to provide an attentive efficient service to both the general public, and emergency service agencies, by acting as the liaison, providing assistance whenever needed.

Both railroad crossings in the Town of Danville, Fourth Street by Byrnsides Hardware & Third Street by the Marathon, will be closed for the majority of the day today.
A minor train derailment occurred at approximately 3:30am this morning. CSX has crews on site working to fix the problem and get the train back on the track where it belongs.
Please utilize the bypass and US Rt 119 to get to the opposite side of the tracks.

UPDATE – OPTIMUM SERVICE OUTAGE

It appears that many, if not all, Optimum services in our area have been restored at this time, including services that were impacted by the fiber outage reported earlier.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while crews worked to address the outage.

If you are still experiencing service issues, we recommend contacting Optimum directly to report the problem.

OPTIMUM SERVICE OUTAGE UPDATE

Boone County EMA is aware of the widespread Optimum service outage that has been affecting our area since approximately 6:00 PM yesterday, August 16.

We have spoken directly with Optimum regarding the outage. According to the information provided to us, multiple fiber lines are currently down near the Brounland Road area along U.S. Route 119 in Kanawha County. These circuits feed service into our area and also provide connectivity to cellular towers, which is contributing to cellular service disruptions in parts of the area.

Optimum has advised that repairs are not expected to begin until later tonight. We were informed that crews are currently unable to cross the roadway to access the damaged lines and are expected to be permitted to do so later tonight when conditions allow the work to be performed more safely.

We understand the significant inconvenience this outage is causing and wanted to share the information that has been provided to us directly by Optimum.

Boone County EMA will continue to pass along additional information as it becomes available.
