The Lynch Fire Protection District extends our deepest thoughts and prayers to the two firefighters and one EMT who were injured in the line of duty after being stabbed while serving their community.
Firefighters and EMS personnel put their lives on the line every day to protect others, and moments like this remind us of the risks they face and the courage they show. We stand in solidarity with them, their families, Champaign Fire, and Arrow ambulance during this difficult time.
Please keep these brave first responders in your prayers as they recover. ❤️🚒
Statement from Interim Fire Chief Tyler Funk
“Last night, two Champaign firefighters and an Arrow Ambulance EMT were seriously injured while responding to assist a person in mental health crisis. Both firefighters remain hospitalized in serious but stable condition. In this case, as in many others, the heroic actions of our firefighters, paramedics, and police officers prevented a more serious outcome. The Champaign Fire Department extends its heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery to Lieutenant Courtney Moravek and Firefighter Robert (Bobby) Poynton. We extend our thanks to everyone who answered their call for assistance. We ask the community to keep our first responders in your thoughts and prayers.”
