The Town of Danville, located in the East Bay area of Northern California, is an energetic and diverse community. The Town provides facilities, programs and activities across a broad spectrum of interests and ages. This site is intended to serve as a mechanism for communication between the public and the department on the listed topics and as a forum to further the mission of the department. Any comment submitted to this page and its list of fans may be considered a public record which is subject to disclosure pursuant to the California Public Records Act. A special moment for Danville’s arts district. 🎭

Last Friday, Front Street Park was officially renamed Eugene O’Neill Park, honoring the Nobel Prize-winning playwright and his lasting connection to Danville.

Located on Front Street across from the Danville Community Center and Library, the park sits in the heart of Danville’s arts district and already serves as a lasting tribute to O’Neill and his work.

The commemorative ceremony featured remarks, poetry readings, and representatives from the Eugene O’Neill Foundation and Danville’s friendship city of New Ross, Ireland. One of the most memorable moments came from a local youth poet, who shared a beautiful original poem created for the occasion.

It was a fitting celebration of Danville’s unique cultural and artistic character and the lasting legacy of one of its most notable residents.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and the National Day of Service and Remembrance.

We remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and honor the first responders and others who stepped forward in the hours and days that followed.

September 11 is also a day to reflect on the spirit of service and unity that emerged in the aftermath and to honor those whose lives were forever changed.

Looking for fun weekend plans for the kids? 🚲

Street Smarts Contra Costa is hosting the Community Bike Festival on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Iron Horse Middle School in San Ramon.

This free family event gives children ages 3–12 a chance to build bicycle handling skills, learn practical pedestrian safety tips, and gain confidence riding and walking safely.

Drop in anytime to meet local police officers and firefighters, take on the bike safety skills course, enjoy free crafts, face painting, henna, live music, prizes, and more.
