Sydney Mrazik, our Natural Resource Conservationist, captured some great photos of monarchs utilizing Wingstem (Verbesina alternifolia). Wingstem is a great native plant that blooms between July and October and often lasts until the first frost. This native plant is a crucial source of nectar for later in the summer through the fall, and can support monarchs and other native butterflies, bees, and other insects.

Sycamores are fast-growing trees, often reaching over 80ft in height and providing shade, nesting cavities, and food for wildlife. How tall do they get, exactly? If you don’t plant one, you may never know. Sycamore is one of 25 native trees available during our Annual Native Plant & Tree Sale. Tree preorders are due by September 18, but place your orders early for the best selection. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, with all proceeds going right back into conservation in Hendricks County.

If you’re looking to plant in a wet area of your property, we’ve got you covered. Our Annual Native Plant & Tree Sale includes over 40 species adapted to local environments. Trees are by preorder, due by September 18, but our native herbs and grasses are available for pickup now at our office. We’re open 8-2:30 on weekdays!
