9/14/26 UPDATE: SUSPECT WANTED IN ONGOING SHOOTING INVESTIGATION OF 1-YEAR-OLD
The Danville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance locating K-Sean La’Darius Royster, 24, of Danville. Royster is wanted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in relation to the incident that resulted in a one-year-old child being shot at Purdum Woods Monday, Sept. 7.
The one-year-old who was injured in the shooting was released from the hospital on Sept. 8 and is recovering.
This investigation remains active and ongoing.

9/7/26 ORIGINAL NEWS RELEASE: Danville Police Investigating Shooting Incident
On Monday, Sept. 7, 2026, at approximately 1:23 a.m., the Danville Police Department responded to a 911 call for multiple shots fired and a 1-year-old child being struck at the G building of the Purdum Woods apartment complex located at 1575 Richmond Boulevard.
Once on scene, officers located a 1-year-old female child suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. Officers and first responders provided immediate medical attention before the child was airlifted to a trauma facility for treatment, where she is currently listed in stable condition.
The investigation found that at approximately 1:21 AM, multiple individuals shot toward a group standing in the breezeway area of the G building, in what appeared to be a targeted attack. Gunfire was returned from the G building breezeway area as well. The 1-year-old victim was being held by her mother at the time of the shooting and was struck while standing in the G building breezeway. The suspects fled on foot from the scene. Two apartments within the G building were struck by gunfire during this incident.
This is an active and ongoing investigation.
