We are aware of the current nationwide AT&T outage and understand the concerns it may raise, especially in emergencies. We want to reassure our community that the Hendricks County Communications Center's dispatch phone lines are operating without any impact. Our team is ready and available to assist you as always.

For those who might experience difficulties calling 9-1-1 due to the outage, please remember that we offer a Text to 9-1-1 service. If you have access to Wi-Fi, you can still reach out for emergency services via text. This alternative ensures that everyone has a means to contact emergency services during this period.

Your safety is our top priority. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The following libraries in Hendrick’s County have offered a place for people to go to get out of the extreme temperatures during their regular hours of operation for July 27, 2023 to July 28, 2023. Please see the list below if you need a cooling station.

July 27, 2023 Heat Advisory: Highs in the low to mid 90s with heat index values 100-109 during the afternoon and evening hours.
• When: 8a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023, to 12a.m. Friday, July 28, 2023.
• Where: Portions of central, east central, north central,
south central, southeast, southwest and west central Indiana.
• Preparedness Actions:
-Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.
-Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Thunderstorm chances re-enter the forecast this afternoon, July 26, 2023. The National Weather Service (NWS) has predicted strong to severe thunderstorms. Any storms that develop may contain frequent lightning and heavy rain, and the strongest storms could produce damaging winds, large hail, and perhaps an isolated tornado. Gusty winds of 20-30 mph expected this afternoon and evening

Extreme heat becomes a hazard tomorrow and Friday as highs rise into the mid 90s with heat indices around 105 degrees. A heat advisory will be in effect from 8:00 AM on Thursday, July 27th through 11:59 PM on Friday, July 28th.

Weather forecast for today, Thursday July 13, 2023, Friday, July 14, 2023, and Saturday, July 15, 2023.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop today across much of the area, with the most coverage of rain expected across southeastern sections of central Indiana. The showers and storms will diminish and end in the early evening.

Isolated severe storms with damaging winds and large hail are possible mainly in the 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM EDT time frame. See Image below for the locations of the threat
