CASA of the Bluegrass Give a child a voice today, become a CASA volunteer!

CASA of the Bluegrass recruits and trains Court Appointed Special Advocates so every child who has experienced abuse, neglect, or dependency can be safe and have the opportunity to thrive. CASA of the Bluegrass recruits, trains, and supervises community volunteers who serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA Volunteers advocate for safety and permanency for child victims of abuse, neglect, and dependency in the Family Court System. CASA of the Bluegrass serves the Family Court jurisdictions of Anderson, Boyle, Franklin and Mercer Counties.

We’re excited to welcome Lindsey Burns from the Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass for a special conversation during our 2nd Annual CEU Extravaganza on September 24th!

Lindsey will give us an inside look at the CAC’s comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to supporting children and families. She’ll walk us through the process from initial referral through the forensic interview, including how information is shared with the appropriate parties.

We’ll also learn more about the CAC’s additional services, including medical assessments provided by an on-staff physician and nurse, counseling services, and other follow-up supports available to children and families.

And this one is open beyond our local program! Volunteers and CASA programs from across Kentucky are invited to register and join us. 💙

Today, our staff and volunteers spent the morning at GreenHouse17 learning more about the incredible services they provide to survivors of domestic violence and their families.

We also got to spend some time in their beautiful gardens, picking flowers grown and cared for by those they serve. 💐

It was a great day spent learning, connecting, and enjoying some quality time together. A huge thank you to GreenHouse 17 for welcoming us and sharing more about the important work you do across the 17 communities you serve!

CASA volunteers are not here to punish parents or make decisions about a child’s future. We gather information, build relationships, and provide the court with an independent perspective focused on what is in the child’s best interest.

CASA volunteer Maria Rutherford put into words one of the most meaningful parts of being an advocate for children: knowing that your involvement may help bring safety, stability, and peace to a child’s life.

CASA volunteers walk alongside children during some of the most difficult and uncertain times of their lives. While they cannot change everything a child has experienced, they can be a consistent voice in the courtroom, speak up for their needs, and advocate for what is in their best interest.

Sometimes, knowing a child is safe, happy, and able to rest peacefully at night is the greatest thank you of all. 💙

We have an important update regarding the Phantom Masquerade.

Due to scheduling conflicts involving the venue and city, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year's event. We know many of you were looking forward to a fun evening in support of CASA of the Bluegrass, and we are incredibly disappointed that we will not be able to bring the event to life as planned.

All purchased tickets will be fully refunded. We will be reaching out directly to ticket holders with additional information regarding the refund process.

While we are sad to see this event come to an end, we remain excited about continuing to grow CASA's presence in Franklin County. We hope to host a new event in Frankfort after the first of the year and look forward to welcoming our community, supporters, volunteers, and friends to come together in support of children in our area.

Thank you for your understanding, your support, and your continued belief in the work of CASA. We cannot wait to share what is next with you!

Throughout September, we’re turning the spotlight toward the people who know CASA best: our volunteers. 💙

All month long, we’ll be sharing their thoughts on “What I Wish People Knew About CASA.”

We hope these perspectives give you a glimpse into what it really means to advocate for a child, open the door to conversation, and maybe answer a question you’ve had about CASA along the way.

The final CASA pre-service training classes of 2026 are here! If you’ve been thinking about becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), now is the time to take the next step. ❤️💙

We have two opportunities to complete pre-service training this fall:

🖥️ Guided Learning | October 1–November 6
Complete online coursework at your own pace, with weekly virtual recap sessions, followed by court observation.

🏫 In-Person | October 1–December 4
Meet weekly at the Frankfort CASA of the Bluegrass office from 5:30–9:00 p.m., with court observation following the training.

As a CASA volunteer, you’ll be trained and supported to advocate for the best interests of a child involved in the court system because of abuse or neglect.

Children need someone willing to show up, speak up, and stay involved.
