🚧Inside Public Works this week:
A Look at Our Demolitions Division
This week, we’re highlighting our Demolitions Division and sharing a few facts about the work that goes into addressing problem structures and maintaining properties throughout Danville.
🔨Our crews internally completed 5 residential demolitions in August!
Our Public Works demolition crews are able to handle certain residential demolitions internally, allowing the City to utilize its own equipment and employees to remove structures that have become unsafe, abandoned or otherwise in need of demolition.
🏠Demolishing a house does not mean the City takes immediate ownership of the property.
When the City demolishes a structure, the land itself generally remains the property of the owner. The City will place a lien on the property for the costs associated with the demolition. Removing the structure and taking ownership of the land are two separate processes.
đź‘· From demolitions and lot maintenance to the many other jobs happening throughout the City, our Public Works crews are working hard every day to keep Danville safe, maintained and moving forward.
That’s this week’s Inside Public Works!
