Storm Update #1: Friday, June 12 @ 5:30 a.m.

City crews are actively responding to storm damage following severe weather that impacted Danville overnight. Public Works, along with other City departments, began assessment and cleanup efforts early this morning and will continue working diligently until all affected areas are addressed.
Residents are asked to report any limbs or trees blocking the public right-of-way (ROW). Reports can be made by calling 217-431-2288. This will help crews prioritize and respond as efficiently as possible.

Due to the widespread nature of the damage, residents are urged to be patient as City teams work through each neighborhood. Crews are systematically clearing streets to ensure safe travel throughout the community. The City is also coordinating closely with Ameren Illinois to address downed power lines. Residents must assume all downed lines are live and dangerous and should avoid these areas.

For safety:
Travel with caution, as debris and hazards may still be present.
Do not drive around barricades or barrels placed in roadways. These markings indicate dangerous conditions or blocked routes.
Allow space for emergency and cleanup crews to operate.
Additional information regarding the collection of storm debris will be released in the coming days.

The City of Danville appreciates the public’s cooperation and patience as recovery efforts continue.

Thanks,
Dave Ruwe
Director of Public Works and Engineering
