EDUCATE ON 3

As President of the Broward League of Cities, I am pleased to share Educate on 3, a countywide outreach effort developed to provide clear, factual information about proposed Amendment 3 and what it could mean for municipal government and the services our residents and businesses rely upon every day. Please scan the QR code below to see the Educate on 3 outreach data and the customized data sheets on our municipalities.

The League created Educate on 3 because the potential impacts of this proposed constitutional amendment are significant, yet the issue itself can be complicated. Our goal is simple: to make the information understandable, accessible, and useful so that residents can become informed about what Amendment 3 proposes and how it may affect their community.

We recognize the important distinction between education and advocacy. Educate on 3 was intentionally developed as an educational-only initiative. The materials provide factual information about municipal revenues, the services those revenues support, and the potential effects of the proposed amendment without telling voters how to vote.

The League has developed a comprehensive collection of materials addressing areas including public safety, infrastructure, parks and recreation, children and family programs, public health, and services that support our local business community. Each document has been customized with each municipality’s own data so that your residents can see, in real and local terms, the services their city provides and how those services could be affected.

These customized materials are a tool, but they only work if you use them. We strongly encourage each city/organization to incorporate the Educate on 3 materials into its own education efforts. Share them on your website and social media platforms, include them in newsletters and communications, make them available at public meetings and community events, and use them when speaking with neighborhood, civic, and business organizations.
It is up to each of us to put these tools to work and ensure that everyone access to the facts.
The League can create the materials, provide the framework, and make the information available—but the most effective education happens locally.

Our purpose is not to tell people what to think or how to vote. It is to make sure they have the facts they need to become educated and informed voters.

Thank you for joining the Broward League of Cities in this important educational effort and, most importantly, for putting these tools to work in your community. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mary Lou Tighe at [email protected] or myself at [email protected].
