*** Update February 7, 2026, 5:48PM
Our tank levels are healthier and our water plant is proceeding with routine maintenance cleans of the other membranes over the weekend. The membrane replacement for Train 3 is working well. Gentry Hills tank is still climbing, as well the Forrest Hills tank.

We've provided updates to JCEMA and County Schools about our progress. We're continuing our communication with New Market Utilities and Shady Grove Utility District.

For those on Jefferson City water, if you are still experiencing low pressure or a water outage, over the weekend our after-hours number is (865) 475-3251. This number goes directly to our Water Plant and we have on-call crews to respond to any reported leaks. Thank you!

*** Update February 06, 2026, 11:31PM
The membrane replacement is in production and working well, producing 400 gallons per minute more than the previous membranes’ output.

Gentry Hills is finally above the 20ft mark. Residents should be seeing better pressure in their lines. There were reports of water issues in the area around Forrest Hills tank. It was discovered that an electrical issue with the pump had it turned off. A redundancy system is being used to resolve the issue there and Forrest Hills tank is gaining. The water plant will be monitoring that tank throughout the night.

We're aware that people are circulating an agenda item back from August 2024. The minutes to that meeting show that the replacement membranes for Train 2 were approved at that meeting. The membrane replacements today were for Train 3.

We appreciate everyone's continued patience as we continue to work through this situation. There are a lot of questions being asked and I wish we had all the answers right now. Our first priority has been and will be the immediate situation of getting our water system healthy for Jefferson City and our wholesale partners at New Market Utilities and Shady Grove Utility District. Thank you!

💧Jefferson City Water has received one membrane that was sent as a rush priority—it was the only one immediately available. There are more membranes needed, so while this is a positive step forward, the situation is not fully resolved yet.

Because of this, water conservation remains extremely important. We are asking everyone to continue limiting water use to essential needs only. Every gallon conserved helps protect system levels and supports the entire community while work continues.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation and will continue to share updates as more information becomes available. 💙💧

💧 Water System Update 💧
Jefferson City Water has turned our supply back on, and our pipes and tanks are slowly refilling.

While this is good news, we still ask everyone to conserve water where possible as the system continues to recover. Reducing non-essential use will help stabilize pressure and ensure water reaches all customers as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and continued conservation efforts — it truly makes a difference for our whole community. 💙

💙 Thank You, Community 💙

We want to say a sincere thank you to everyone who has already stepped up to conserve water. Your efforts truly make a difference and help keep water available for essential needs across our community.

If you still have water, we ask that you please continue to prioritize conservation—limit non-essential use and only use what you need. Every gallon saved helps your neighbors.

🚨 If you are currently out of water:
• Turn off the breaker to your water heater to prevent damage
• Avoid turning faucets on and off repeatedly
• Check for leaks once service is restored

We know this is difficult, and we truly appreciate the patience, understanding, and teamwork being shown. This community has come together in a big way, and it does not go unnoticed. Thank you for looking out for one another. 💙

The city is currently experiencing low water tank levels that have caused low water pressure or no water throughout certain areas in the city. Our Utilities Division has worked diligently to identify the source of the issue and we believe the issue centers around faulty filtration membranes at the water treatment plant. The output production of these membranes have somehow degraded sooner than expected and we have taken steps to order replacements and we hope our vendor can expedite delivery.

We have also taken steps to communicate with our wholesale buyers, Shady Grove Utility District and New Market Utilities District, to minimize their flow from our tanks while we take steps to recover. Extreme weather has exacerbated the situation. We do ask our customers, and those supplied by our wholesalers, to please conserve water where possible.

Unfortunately, this is not expected to be a quick fix while we wait on replacement membranes or find a way to repair our current ones. We do apologize for the inconvenience, and we thank you for your understanding as we try to figure out how best to remedy this situation in the short-term while working towards a long-term solution.
