A Message from Co-Founder Olivia:

Hi everyone,

First and foremost, I want to thank you all for the energy, commitment, and support you’ve brought to this project. When Ryan and I started AMRT at the New Fairfield Starbucks back in August, we could never have imagined how quickly the “Build the Trail” movement would grow or how strongly the community would rally behind it.

After a great deal of thought over the past few months, I’ve decided to step back from the group. This was not an easy decision, nor one I made lightly, and I’m deeply grateful for the encouragement and collaboration I’ve experienced since the very beginning.

I have full confidence that the group is in excellent hands under Ryan’s leadership, and I look forward to continuing to support the movement from the broader community.

With great appreciation,
Olivia

Yesterday was a cold, quiet, rainy April morning at the Margerie Dog Park in Danbury. The weather showed up. So did we.

Five volunteers removed 3 full bags of trash, plus $1.60 in redeemable recycling. We covered the dog parks, parking lot, portions of Peck Road, the fence line both inside and out, the overflow area, and stretches of shoreline along the dam.

What stood out was how much trash is sitting right along the water. And we only touched what we could reach.

Let’s be honest about what that means. People are already using this space for recreation, especially fishing. But there is no infrastructure to support it. No systems. No accountability. And the result is predictable: litter, broken glass, fishing line, plastic, and waste left behind.

This is exactly why we’re pushing for the Margerie Reservoir Trail.

Use is already happening. The question is whether we manage it responsibly or ignore it while the problem grows.

We’re proud that our first community cleanup was a success, and we’re grateful for the support of Danbury’s Recreation Department and Water Department in helping make this effort possible.

Next up, we’re looking at Route 37 and the New Fairfield side of the dam.

If you want to help, or have a spot that needs attention, reach out.

We’re not here to watch from the sidelines. We’re here to do the work.

The places we gather deserve our care.

We’re meeting at the Margerie Dog Park to clean up, connect, and keep moving the trail forward.

Small acts, done together, shape what a community becomes.
