Danbury Professional Fire Fighters, Local 801, IAFF This is the Official Public Page of the Danbury Professional Fire Fighters.

We represent 120 professional fire fighters, and our members provide a multitude of services to the citizens of, and visitors to the City of Danbury. In addition to fire suppression, our members also provide fire prevention inspections and code enforcement, fire investigations, technical rescue services, hazardous materials response, first response to emergency medical services calls, motor vehicl

e accidents, and even land searches. Local 801 represents all professional members of the Danbury Fire Department, with the exception of the Chief and Deputy Chief. Our goal is to constantly improve the safety, working conditions, and benefits of our members. The Danbury Professional Fire Fighters was first organized on Oct 9, 1944 as an affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters, and was designated Local 801. Local 801 is a charter member of the Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut. In addition to these Public Safety Services, our members are also involved in several community service projects every year. Since 2001, Local 801 has raised $178,078.12 for the Musculature Dystrophy Association. In addition, our members have contributed to the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation and the Arthur C Luf Childrens Burn Camp, and several members have contributed their time and skills to help maintain and administer the camp. Every fall, Local 801 sponsors a canned food drive, and with the assistance of the Salvation Army, distributes the collections to needy families in our community. Local 801 members provide CPR training, and a Baby Sitter class to the members of the community.

Over the next several days, multiple events throughout the city are expected to cause temporary traffic delays. Details are as follows:

Thursday, June 4th
At 8:00 PM, a religious procession will begin at St. Joseph’s Church on Main Street and conclude at St. Peter’s Church. The procession will occupy a portion of the southbound lane on Main Street.

Friday, June 5th
At approximately 9:30 AM, the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run will enter Danbury via Federal Road from Brookfield. Participants will proceed along Federal Road to White Street, then to Main Street and South Street, where the torch will be passed to Bethel officers at the town line.

Saturday, June 6th
At 10:00 AM, the Athletes of Christ 5K will take place. The race route includes Memorial Drive, Lions Way, South Street, and Mountainville Avenue.

Sunday, June 7th
At 9:30 AM, the annual Portuguese Day Parade will begin on Deer Hill Avenue and proceed to Liberty Street.

Also at 9:30 AM, the inaugural Hat City Dash 5K will take place on Kenosia Avenue. Runners will travel on Kenosia Avenue, occupying one lane, to Christopher Columbus Avenue, before turning around and returning, finishing near the intersection of Backus Avenue.

Yesterday, members from Local 801 attended the funeral for Boston Firefighter Robert “Bobby” Kilduff Jr. FF Kilduff Jr. lost his life while fighting a 3 alarm fire in Dorchester on May 23rd. In addition to being a 24 year veteran of the Boston Fire Department, FF Kilduff Jr. was a dedicated father and a United States Marine. May he Rest In Peace.

** MARINE INCIDENT**

Local 801 members are operating at a marine incident on Candlewood Lake. Just before 4pm on Memorial Day, units were dispatched to reports of a boat explosion with people in the water. Local 801 members are working with the Candlewood Lake Authority's Lake Patrol at this incident. This incident is still ongoing in the area of Danbury Town Park. Avoid the area.
