COVID 19 has made for difficult times in Danbury. Although we are getting through this the best we can, there is still some uncertainty as to when we will return to a more normal way of life. While we all are following social distancing rules, wearing face protection and staying home, we still have a way to go. Many want to know when we will open parks and recreational activities again. There is no specific time line yet as we are following the direction of out State and local officials to determine when it is deemed safe for everyone to resume the things we miss. There are many dedicated people working hard to determine the best way to proceed which appears to be a gradual phase in progression. Currently, we know there will be no Memorial Day Parade, no Candlewood Town Park Fireworks and we will not be offering the Recreation Department's Safe Summer and Summer Playground programs. If you have cabin fever visit one of our many passive recreation areas for a hike. We ask for your patience during this trying time and hope you and your families stay safe and stay well.

The State of CT, City of Danbury and the Health Dept have instituted a number of measures help prevent the spread of COVID 19 in our community. You may go to the city web site danbury-ct.gov for all information necessary to assist you and your family. We have taken measures related to outdoor activities asking to not be anywhere with more than 10 people in close proximity to one and other. All Danbury outdoor playing fields whether in a park or school is closed this includes all playgrounds. This will remain in effect through April 30. Please helps us get this message out to the public as we work toward slowing down the spread of this virus. Thank you for your cooperation and stay well.
