There is a very bad line of storms coming our way and we are monitoring it. Siren or not you should be taking precautions and in a safe place until the weather clears. The department is open if anyone needs to take shelter.

There remains a significant threat of severe weather across much of central Illinois later today, especially this evening. The highest risk (level 3 of 5) extends from about Peoria and Springfield eastward; this area has the highest chance of seeing hail larger than golf balls, and wind gusts over 70 mph. The window for tornadoes is smaller than the overall severe weather threat, generally before 8 pm. As the storm push further south toward I-70 by late evening, they will be in a weaker state, but still capable of producing some hail and strong winds. Continue to monitor the weather today, especially as we get later into the afternoon hours, and be prepared to move quickly if severe weather threatens your area.

Quick update! First if anyone lost a bracelet at our breakfast please reach out with a description to claim. Second since time got away from us on Sunday, we will be testing the sirens this Sunday at 2pm instead. Also, the first Sunday next month happens to be Easter so we will move that test to the following week as well (April 12th). The final raffle boards will be drawn this Sunday at 3pm and all winners will be notified within the hour. There are still squares available (photos and prices in previous post), sausage available, and the final shirt order will be placed Sunday evening. You can stop in the department any time after 2pm Sunday if interested or reach out to any of our members. Again, we thank you all for your support.
