Great Salt Bay Sanitary District G.S.B.S.D. is a quasi-municipal water/wastewater treatment facility covering the towns of Damariscotta, Newcastle, and part of Nobleboro

The District employs 5 fulltime employees; Scott Abbotoni-Water Division Manager, LeeAnna Hutchings-Wastewater Division Manager, Julie Hart-Office Manager, Sal Bartolotta-Plant operator, and -Plant Operator
The office is open Monday - Friday 7am-3pm
The District is overseen by a board of trustees voted on by the towns served. The current trustees are Allan Ray(Newcastle), John Gallagher(Damariscotta), William Brewer(Damariscotta), Raymond McConnell(Damariscotta), (Newcastle), and Bobby Whear(Nobleboro). The drinking water is pumped from Little Pond to our two storage tanks, one located on the Standpipe Rd in Damariscotta, and the other is on Academy Hill in Newcastle. The wastewater is treated at our Piper Mill Rd facility in Damariscotta, and pumped to an outlet in the Damariscotta River.
