The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners and the Whitfield County Fire Department (WCFD) are announcing the implementation of a new Outdoor Burning Ordinance, including a seasonal burn ban for unincorporated Whitfield County.

The seasonal burn ban will be in effect annually from June 1st through September 30th. During this period, the burning of yard debris, leaves, limbs, land-clearing debris, and construction materials will be prohibited. Recreational fires, cooking fires, grills, smokers, fire pits, and approved outdoor fireplaces will still be allowed when operated safely and in accordance with the ordinance.

Firefighter Friday: A “firefighter wiggle” is how they reset their PASS alarm while in full gear. It is designed to go off if there is no movement, alerting others that someone may be in trouble. To prevent a false alarm during training or on scene, a quick wiggle keeps it from activating.
