We want to congratulate Luke Freed for successfully completing his state examination, skills assessment, and the National Registry exam. With these achievements, he is now certified as our newest Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B). Additionally, Luke holds his Fire Fighter 1 (FF1) certification.

Last night's training session provided an excellent opportunity for our firefighters and EMS crew to enhance their collaboration and emergency response skills. We conducted a simulation of a one-vehicle accident with three victims inside. This exercise allowed the teams to practice effective communication and coordination while refining our techniques in patient extraction and care. The experience not only strengthened our ability to work together under pressure but also highlighted areas for further improvement in future training scenarios.

Our thanks also goes out to all our officers for their work in bringing this training exercise together. Your dedication is vital to our success and helps us achieve our goals.

Next in our "Meet the Team" series is Lieutenant Lane Knox, a dedicated fourth-generation firefighter who embodies the spirit of service and commitment. Lane holds certifications as a Firefighter II (FF2) and Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) and has devoted the past eight years to the Apple Creek, East Union Township Fire Department, as well as serving here in Dalton. His journey in the firefighting community is more than just a career; it’s a testament to his passion and leadership. Lane’s connection to the firehouse runs deep, having grown up in the firehouse environment and also spending a couple of years as an Explorer at Wooster Township Fire. Lane's dedication and experiences not only reflect his skills but also highlight his heartfelt commitment to helping others in their time of need!

Last night, we gathered for our monthly fire training at the new ProVia location here in Dalton. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore the facility and familiarize ourselves with its layout before production begins this year. We were also pleased to have members from the Kidron Volunteer Fire Department join us, allowing us to collaborate on hose advancement techniques to the third floor of this impressive building. This training session not only strengthened our skills but also fostered valuable teamwork between our departments. Joining us also was our Mayor and the Dalton Police Department. We would like to express our gratitude to the ProVia management team for guiding us through their new facility and helping us learn more about their operations. Together, we can work towards ensuring everyone's safety!

On Wednesday, the 27th, at 17:04, Dalton Fire was dispatched to respond to a vehicle fire that posed a threat to a nearby structure. Upon arrival, a fire crew, comprised of volunteers, quickly contained the fire to the engine bay, preventing damage to the structure. All units returned to service without incident, and no injuries were reported among first responders or civilians. Appreciation is extended to Dalton Police for their assistance with this incident.

This past Saturday, one of our members had the opportunity to participate in Crisis Intervention Training at the Wayne County Regional Training Facility, joining dedicated first responders from Wayne and Holmes Counties. The training featured insightful speakers such as Joe Morbitzer, Ryan Graham, Tina Reed, David Nardecchia, and Curt Stauffer. Together, we engaged in compassionate discussions about mental health, explored effective strategies for de-escalating calls, learned about available community resources, and emphasized the importance of self-care for first responders. It was a valuable experience that reminded us of the support we can offer each other in this challenging field..

We would also like to extend our thanks to the Wooster Rotary Club, NAMI Ohio, the Wayne-Holmes Mental Health and Recovery Board, Northeast Ohio Medical University, and the Criminal Justice Coordinating Center of Excellence for their generous support in sponsoring this training.
