Two Years of Prison for Cult Leader Mrs. Moon

Unification Church cult leader Hak Ja Han, better known in America as Mrs. Moon, has been sentenced to two years in prison for bribing the former First Lady of South Korea and other crimes.

The Associated Press also reports that Han gave 100 million won (worth approximately $73,000) to politician Kweon Seong-dong.

Jeremiah Counsel Filing Asks to Reverse Young Group Power Play, Return Previous Second Baptist Board

Almost buried in Texas Business Court Judge Grant Dorfman’s ruling against Jeremiah Counsel Corporation (JCC) last month certifying Second Baptist’s suspicious 2023 bylaws revision was a clause returning the church to its 1928 charter and rejecting Second Baptist’s 2023 charter amendment.

A prominent portion of the Judge’s ruling alleged that a court could not decide whether the Young Group’s statement of their alleged reason to amend the Bylaws was truthful without contradicting various court precedents that help delineate church autonomy. Thus the court reasoned that such a ruling would violate the First Amendment clause of the U.S. Constitution, so he let the controversial new board of directors retain control.

At first blush, for those members of Second Baptist Church Houston who care about losing their right to vote, the return to its 1928 charter appeared to be sort of a “consolation prize” of little value.

However, a new filing by Jeremiah Counsel argues the Judge’s rejection of the 2023 charter amendment legitimizes the original 1928 charter, is prima facia evidence invalidating the current board made up of mostly Young family members (dubbed the “Young Group”) and automatically reinstates the board of trustees extant prior to the 2023 amendment.

Intro to JCC’s August 13th Filing

The introduction to JCC’S new filing states, “The Court’s July 15 Opinion shows that Second Baptist Church Corp. (“Second Baptist”) is now being run by a board of directors or Ministry Leadership Team (“Board” or “MLT”) lacking any authority to govern the church.” (emphasis ours) And goes on to state, “The Court’s rulings also show that the prior church Board existing as of May 31, 2023, remains Second Baptist’s proper governing body.”

The latest JCC filing points out an inherent contradiction between the different aspects of Judge Dorfman’s rulings. It states that the current situation is untenable and that it presents a dispute over who controls the church.

Paula White’s National Faith Advisory Board Partners with Multimillionaire Ta***ic S*x Promoter

On August 18th, Paula White’s National Faith Advisory Board announced in a Facebook post the September launch of the “Amen Whole 4”—a program addressing physical, mental, relational and spiritual health, led by Dr. Daniel Amen, founder of the Amen Clinics.

Amen is a controversial doctor famous for using Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) brain scans to create customized health improvement programs. Meanwhile, his “Amen Whole 4” program costs $1,290.

Amen’s books and clinics have generated immense wealth from Christians and celebrities, more about that later.

Discernment ministries sounded the alarm a decade ago when Amen co-wrote The Daniel Plan: 40 Days to a Healthier Life with Pastor Rick Warren and Dr. Mark Hyman.

Lighthouse Trails Research reported, “Dr. Amen is a proponent of ta***ic s*x (the combining of s*xual activity with mystical practices), which is probably the most extreme form of meditation.”

In 2009, Amen created an audio CD lecture series Create More Passion Tonight with ta**ra yoga instructor T.J. Bartel.

In his book The Brain in Love, published in 2007, Amen writes, “Best known in the West are the several forms of ta**ra yoga in which worship services take the form of s*xual rituals featuring slow, nonorgasmic in*******se as a prelude to an experience of the divine.” However, Amen never warns in his book that ta**ra is incompatible with scripture.

Donors Beware: Volunteers Allege Fraud and Abuses at Sean Feucht's Ministries

Three months ago, John Bastian released "Missionary Abuse Inside Sean Feucht's Ministry," a 2.5 hour-long video about abuses inside Sean Feucht's Light a Candle and Burn 24-7 ministries. John and Erica Bastian interviewed a former intern and missionary volunteers, turned whistleblowers. Their stories, available at TruthAndFreedomStories.com, illuminate ministries driven by photo-ops.

Feucht rose to prominence in the charismatic Christian world by acquiring large amounts of press coverage while holding controversial worship events during Covid.

Keri, a missionary to Iraq with Light a Candle, reveals that Feucht is "very good at knowing how to manipulate people. He seemed to be an expert in that to me."

Another whistleblower that applied for an internship with Feucht while she was a student at Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry, tells her story anonymously as Jane Doe, alleging that Feucht failed to meet the requirements of being a mentor to the student during the internship. Instead the intern babysat for Feucht and cleaned out his garage.

For the discerning viewer, the video raises important financial questions. Where did the donated funds go? The video shows Feucht saying, "Every single penny that has been raised that you guys out there have donated has gone on to fulfill its kingdom ordained purpose, and I stand by that."

The whistleblowers and Trinity Foundation's investigation of Feucht both challenge that statement. Sean Feucht Ministries stopped filing a Form 990 with the IRS after 2020 and no longer discloses to the public where the donations go. Sean Feucht Ministries has acquired 3 houses, located in San Juan Capistrano, California, Kalispell, Montana and Washington, DC, while ministry property in Texas has no known ministry purpose.

The whistleblowers allege that missionaries were required to live in an unsafe environment without proper support. A missionary describes living in an Iraqi home without air conditioning and a serious mold problem. The missionary reported, "We barely had food ourselves because our money often came late. We never knew how much money we would get per month because usually what we were told we would be getting didn't match what we actually got."

When a donor gives money to a non-profit organization for a specific person or project, this is considered a restricted donation. When the funds are not spent on the restricted purpose, this can be fraud.

Following the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers in New York City, the American Red Cross established the Liberty Fund which raised over half a billion dollars for the victims families. After news reports disclosed that some of the funds were diverted so they wouldn't go to victims families, state attorney generals and Congress launched investigations.

Restricted donation fraud in the religious world needs to be properly investigated and prosecuted too.

In a federal lawsuit filed in 2025 that has received little, if any, religious media attention, Linda Clary Umberger alleges that Jordan and Jay Sekulow, leaders of the religious non-profit organizations American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) and Christian Advocates Serving Evangelism (CASE), “impeded the investigation” of her son, John Anthony Clary Umberger’s death.

At the time of his death, John Umberger, a gay attorney, served as the ACLJ’s Director of Diplomacy and Political Programs while living in a New York City townhouse acquired by CASE through a secretive limited liability company.

The lawsuit tells a troubling story: After Linda was unable to contact her son for a couple of days, she contacted Jordan Sekulow on June 1, 2022, requesting that someone check on John. Later that day, “Jay Sekulow, Jordan Sekulow, and Jacob Carringer [ACLJ Chief of Security] called Linda to report that John’s body had been found.”

The lawsuit alleges, “Defendants in fact knew about John’s death prior to June 1, 2022. Linda subsequently learned that John’s company health insurance had been cancelled by Defendants on May 31, 2022, then reinstated on June 1, and then cancelled again later that day.”

The lawsuit claims that “one or more of the Defendants maintain liability insurance policies that could have provided up to $10 million of coverage to the Estate and/or Linda… Defendants’ conduct, however, has made it impossible for the Estate or Linda to obtain the benefits.”

According to the lawsuit, “In the call with Linda, Jordan Sekulow insisted there had been ‘no foul play,’ saying that ‘it was as if John was sitting on his bed to tie his shoes and died,’ thus implying that John had died from natural causes or some self-induced condition.”

Trinity Foundation contacted ACLJ media spokesman Brian Mayes for comment and received the response, “We are not commenting on the lawsuit.” However, Mayes did point out that one detail in the lawsuit was factually incorrect.

Trinity Foundation reviewed almost 40 church and ministry websites for whom leaders, members, or volunteers have been indicted or sued, looking for financial documents publicly disclosing legal expenses.

Houston Judge Dorfman Errs by Certifying 2023 Bylaws Eliminating Second Baptist Houston Congregation’s Right to Vote

The lawsuit challenging Second Baptist Church Houston’s bait-and-switch vote on church bylaws to replace congregational governance with family control has been over-ruled by Texas Business Court Judge Grant Dorfman by invoking the ecclesiastical abstention doctrine, also known as the church autonomy doctrine.

In the matter, Jeremiah Counsel Corporation, Plaintiff, v. Ben Young, et al., Defendants, Judge Dorfman published his motions this past Wednesday, July 15th, 2026, against the Jeremiah Counsel Corporation (JCC) dismissing the case.

The ruling serves as a textbook example of poorly conceived court precedents serving as legal protection for religious leaders.

The doctrine of ecclesiastical abstention dates to an 1871 Supreme Court ruling. In Watson v. Jones, the court wrote that judges cannot weigh in on “a matter which concerns theological controversy, church discipline, ecclesiastical government, or the conformity of the members of the church to the standards of morals required of them.”

Yet a unanimous Supreme Court decision in 1879, Reynolds v. United States, held that the free exercise of religion is not absolute when it conflicts with valid civil and criminal laws applicable to everyone.

In this case, the matter conflicts with Texas non-profit organization business law (TBOC).

The main question in this case is: Was fraud committed on the entire congregation of roughly 94,000 members by eliminating their right to vote with no prior notice?

Trinity Foundation believes this matter should have been put before a jury and not discarded by a single judge’s decision.

Texas courts have been leaning toward a complete hands-off approach to court cases involving churches, and that may have influenced Judge Dorfman’s decision.

How Can the First Amendment Be Used to Protect Fraud, Misuse of Church Funds, Even R**e or Abuse?

The Gateway Church/Robert Morris class action lawsuit to recover donations was dismissed Tuesday, June 23. More on how this exemplifies misuse of the First Amendment toward the end of this article.

Shielding Corruption

Defense attorneys and religious freedom advocates have joined forces using the First Amendment and old court precedents to create a shield protecting corrupt religious organizations and leaders from prosecution and litigation.

Freedom of religion, a.k.a. “the free exercise clause” has become a byword used to justify political positions and, in some cases, even criminal activity.

Here at Trinity Foundation, we do not engage in electoral politics—we do not endorse candidates; but when it comes to religious leaders abusing others in God’s name, that angers us. We believe this is a non-partisan issue.

It’s not the First Amendment that’s the problem. The First Amendment protects people’s right to believe and/or worship as they wish and rightly so. But it’s not an absolute right when it comes to stepping on other people.

At issue—does constitutional law protect perpetrators of fraud or other forms of abuse if the abuser claims his or her actions were based on their religious belief?

There is a growing trend within our court system to allow defendants to cite certain court precedents, using what’s called among litigation experts the ‘ecclesiastical abstention doctrine’ to get judges to look the other way in serious matters that truly don’t involve ecclesiastical or doctrinal disputes.

Court precedent allows judges to dismiss cases involving “clerical collar crime” issues—a term coined in an essay by a young lawyer, Ms. Preslie B. Grumbles, explaining issues involving how church’s white-collar crime is handled by the courts and more particularly, Texas courts.
