🎉 Congratulations to Firefighter Pedro Mendez-Diaz on successfully completing Paramedic School!

The Cockrell Hill Fire Department is committed to continuously growing, training, and investing in our personnel to provide the highest level of care to our community.

Pedro’s accomplishment strengthens our team of 5 paramedics, and with 4 more members currently enrolled in paramedic school, we continue to enhance our EMS capabilities for the City of Cockrell Hill.

📚🚒 Back to School with Cockrell Hill! 🚓✏️

Today, the Cockrell Hill Fire Department is proud to join the Cockrell Hill Police at Planet Dental Cockrell Hill for their Back-to-School Event!

We enjoyed the opportunity to meet families, and help students start the new school year off right. Events like these are a great way to connect with our community and wish everyone a safe, successful school year.

Strong high pressure and clear skies will set the stage for very hot weather across North and Central Texas the rest of this week. Highs will range from the upper-90s to the mid-100s. Accounting for humidity, heat indices will likely range from 105° to 112° each day during the afternoon and evening hours. Be sure to dress appropriately, stay hydrated, and have ways to cool off if needed should you plan to be outdoors this week.

Today, the Cockrell Hill Fire Department was proud to provide EMS standby for our city’s Splash Day, helping keep everyone safe while they cooled off and enjoyed the fun. We loved seeing so many families out making memories, and we’re grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate with us.

🐾 Neighborhood Update: Animal Control & Loose Dogs in Cockrell Hill 🐾

We want to share a quick update on how our city manages animal control requests and how residents can help us keep our streets safe!

Why doesn't the city pick up every stray?

Cockrell Hill operates with limited resources and does not have a full-time animal control officer. When an animal needs to be safely picked up, the task is handled by our hard-working Public Works team alongside their regular municipal duties.

Additionally, the city operates a very small animal shelter. Because our shelter space is so limited, we generally cannot pick up or impound non-aggressive stray dogs. Our field response must be prioritized for immediate safety threats.

Lost Pets & Adoptions 🐕

On the rare occasions we have the space to take in a dog, or when an animal is surrendered to the city, we do offer adoption services to find them a good home. There is NO FEE to adopt from our shelter! If you are looking for a lost pet or want to check on potential adoptions, call City Administration during business hours at 214-330-6333.

What are your options if you see a loose dog?

Know the owner? Call Dispatch if the dogs are out and you know where they live, call Cockrell Hill Police Dispatch (Non-Emergency) at 📞 214-339-4141 so an officer can respond.

File a Court Complaint. If a neighbor regularly lets their dogs roam and you know who they are, you can fill out a City Complaint Form. The Municipal Court can then issue a summons to the owner to address the violation.

Help us track them. Call City Administration with a detailed description of the dog and where you saw it so our Public Works team can keep an eye out while working in the area.

After Hours & Emergencies: On weekends and after business hours, the city will not respond to loose animals unless they are aggressive or have bitten someone. If a dog is actively threatening or attacking, call 911 immediately.
