Miles of Freedom

Miles of Freedom Miles of Freedom assists individuals, families and communities to rebuild lives after incarceration. We realize that we can not do this by ourselves.

Miles of Freedom is a Dallas nonprofit that seeks to deal with the entire structure of re-entry when it comes to the previously incarcerated individual coming home. Our mission is to equip, empower, and employ individuals returning home from prison and provide support and assistance for families and communities impacted by incarceration. We need a community that is excited and interested in giving

back and one that can be reached by those in need. We offer job prep skills, financial training, legal assistance, medical assistance, clothing, and more. In any area of re-entry from incarceration, MOF is eager to assist or refer.

Please join us in welcoming Javier Mayorga to the MILES of Freedom team!

Javier brings years of experience in landscaping and equipment operation, and under his leadership, we're growing our Lawn Care Service to include shrubbery installation, hardscaping, walkways, and more specialized projects.

But what makes Javier such a great fit goes beyond his skill set. He's rooted in faith, driven by service, and passionate about helping others experience the same transformation he's lived himself. He's even pursuing coursework in social work, and our program staff couldn't be more excited to support him.

“God has been so good to me. The most important thing has been the renewing of my mind and ability to see that change isn't needed, it's necessary." - Javier Mayorga

Welcome to the family, Javier. We can't wait to see what we build together.

Newly released data shows Dallas-Fort Worth now ranks 4th in the nation for hunger, behind only L.A., New York, and Houston. More than half of the families facing hunger here earn too much to qualify for SNAP, yet still can't keep groceries on the table.

In partnership with North Texas Food Bank, MILES of Freedom's MLK Food Pantry has distributed nearly 3.5 million pounds of food since its inception in 2019.

Wear orange on September 9. Volunteer. Give what you can.

If you are in need, stop in. No income limit. No zip code required.

This Labor Day, we're asking Dallas employers one question: What could a second-chance hire look like on your team?

A criminal record can be enough to end a job application before anyone reads it. MILES of Freedom exists to bridge that gap.

This year alone, our Transition to Employment program has delivered 1,740+ hours of workforce skills development to prepare candidates for the workforce.

Support second-chance employment and connect with our team at MILESofFreedom.org.

MILES of Freedom is proud to recognize Sally and George Baxter as Presenting Sponsors of our 14th Anniversary Celebration on November 14, 2026.

Presenting sponsors make the night possible — from the room where our clients, staff, and supporters gather, to the reentry, job readiness, and second-chance programs their support helps fund year-round.

Join us as we celebrate 14 years of bridging the gap from Prison to Promise, hear from keynote speaker Damon West, and honor the people and partners carrying forward this year's theme — Be the Change.
