The Auxiliary was founded in 2012 to provide supportive funds and services to Rainbow Days. The Auxiliary aims to have approximately 100 members who would like to help us spread the mission of Rainbow Days throughout Dallas and beyond!..
Rainbow Days, Inc. (RDI) Rainbow Days, Inc. (RDI) is a Dallas-based, grassroots organization founded in 1982 by current CEO and program developer, Cathey Brown,
to provide children living in high-risk situations with the skills and support they need for a drug-free and promising future. Rainbow Days’ first program was a support group which targeted children who were “at risk” for alcoholism because they had a family member who was an alcoholic. In a small group setting, with a trained adult, the children met over a 12-week period to discuss how to manage their feelings, cope with difficult problems and make healthy choices. As the need and demand for these groups grew rapidly, Rainbow Days began implementing the Curriculum-Based Support Group (CBSG®) Program in other sites throughout the Dallas community and expanded to include other services including camps, classroom-based education and a host of other activities. Now, over 30 years later, Rainbow Days has served over 150,000 children in the Dallas area through a comprehensive array of prevention programs. In addition, through the Trans4m Center ™, Rainbow Days reaches thousands more children throughout Texas and U.S. by training youth-serving professionals to use our programs with the children they serve. To date, Rainbow Days has trained over 37,000 adults in RDI’s CBSG® Program and other accredited prevention programs. Rainbow Days is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and as a 501 c (3) organization that receives funding from a variety of federal and state agencies, The United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, foundations, corporations, and individual donors.
