Aside from the devastating loss in the Fort Worth mayoral race, Democrats had a good night in Tarrant County municipals. We didn’t win every race, but we won the bulk of them!
Democrats picked up city council seats in Fort Worth (flipping the council), Grand Prairie (two) and Euless as well as a school board seat in Castleberry ISD. We lost a previously-Dem held seat in Arlington and came up short in two Mansfield school district seats.
Overall, it was a good night for Democrats in Tarrant County. We picked up seats, which means our issues and our perspectives will be taken into account when crucial decisions affecting our towns and schools are made. Furthermore, we have experienced future candidates for higher office and a more engaged voter base.
We are thankful to Deborah Peoples for her hard-fought campaign, and all of the other candidates who made sacrifices so our voices would be heard.
We are also thankful for everyone who knocked doors, placed phone calls, donated, texted, poll greeted, wrote post cards and got friends out to vote. We have a long way to go to help Democratic voters understand why these elections are important and why it’s important to vote in these races.
With our democracy under unprecedented attack, we cannot afford to rest. We must start now organizing for a tough midcycle election so we can make the most of our opportunity to elect more Democrats. We are working to expand the Democratic electorate with voter registration and need your help.
